PAC 10 not off to a good start
The other day UCLA had the chance to win a squeaker against BYU, but the chip shot field goal wasn't to be for the Bruins.
Tonight we have the co champs of the PAC 10 getting roughed up by an over rated Texas team. Let me rephrase that, ASU is getting their ar$es handed to them by an over rated Texas team. I'm beside myself wondering how the PAC 10 manages to get such a weak bowl schedule and still lose. Will the first win for the conference be Oregon State against Maryland? Shirley Cal can beat Air Force. Oregon over Cuba? Since nobody really cares about the rose bowl, we'll just leave it alone. Can a whole conference be demoted to Division 1A?

You obviously have a thinly veiled agenda, sour grapes or something. Your team sucks, your conference sucks, you suck. Howz that sound?

The PAC-10 sucked this year, there is no doubt about it.
ASU was Co-Champion, and a Top 10 (or so) BSC team all year. What a joke. As I posted in the College Football thread, look at ASU's schedule and wins and losses this year. That tells you why they got smacked hard by a very average Tx team. With their weak schedule, a team like ASU can be highly ranked, while at the same time you actually know almost nothing about them. Anyways, here was to post from a month or so ago: "As to Arizona State, they really were not a very good team. Their record was very deceiving. They had 7 home games, and only 4 road games, with really almost no quality wins. Really, in college football, scheduling means a ton. Arizona State wins/losses: W #1 ~ San Jose St is not a real Div 1 team! W #2 ~ Colorado is a poser team with a losing record! W #3 ~ San Diego St is not a real Div 1 team! W #4 ~ Oregon St was a 2-3 patsy at the time! W #5 ~ (@)/Stanford was a 1-3 patsy at the time! W #6 ~ (@)/Wazzu was a 2-4 patsy at the time! W #7 ~ UDub was a 2-4 patsy at the time! W #8 ~ Cal was beaten up & in a 3-game freefall at the time! Cal is awful, not even close to a T25 team L #1 ~ THE ONLY CHALLENGE THE ENTIRE SEASON, AND OREGON RIPPED THEM AT AUTZEN! W #9 ~ (@)/UCLA was/is a crippled O team, & the ASU Frauds barely beat them by virtually a single FG! L #2 ~ USC. Only their 2nd legitimate challenge game of the season, & they spit the bit embarrassingly!" |

I guess when all you have is cold weather, black ice, brown water lakes, if you are close to the ocean it is brown for five miles out, no other life, deer the size of rabbits, good road kill is a big Armadillo, you start a thread bashing PAC 10, maybe some time you could start a thread bragging about Texas instead of slamming everyone else. Or maybe not.

On any given PAC 10 football weekend, I root for two teams:
1. The Beavers 2. Whomever is playing the Ducks

IMHO, no thread could tell "all about Texas"...

I wasn't insinuating anything about your longhorns and their play, I was pointing out your bashing of the PAC 10 when nobody was talking them up. What is your problem with PAC 10 that you and the guy from Tennaaassssee always have to bash them. If someone here started something I could understand, but nobody does that, only uncalled for bashing. If the LSU wins this year they will JOIN USC as a two time winner. As for visiting Texas, from my post you should understand I have been there. |

According to MSNBC
With only two seasons to go after LSU and Ohio State settle their score Jan. 7, it's not too early to talk about team of the decade in college football. Is the winner the frontrunner? Either the Tigers or Buckeyes will join USC as the only two-time national champions in the decade. Ah, the Trojans. USC came thisclose to an unprecedented 3-peat and boasts three Heisman winners since the turn of the century. What about Texas, which denied the Trojans in arguably the top game of the decade? Top team? The 2001 Miami squad has to be considered among the greatest teams of all time. The decade's best record -- if you discount eight wins that were later forfeited -- belongs to Oklahoma. And don't forget Florida. With Heisman winner Tim Tebow possibly back for two more seasons, the Gators are a good a bet to win it all in 2008 or 2009. Msnbc.com contributor Mike Woods looks at the top teams of the decade. |

But if USC fans want to pretend that LSU didn't win the National Championship in 2004 - to just totally pretend that Saban holding that crystal trophy is just an illusion and never happened, that's ok, I guess.

USC National titles: 2 (2003 AP & 2004 AP/BCS) Overall record: 80-21 Bowl record: 4-2 Heismans: 3 (Carson Palmer/’02, Matt Leinert/’04, Reggie Bush/’05) Argument for: The Trojans came within a whisker of a three-peat and have 3 Heisman winners to point to. Since an 11-13 beginning to the decade, USC has gone an incredible 67-8 -- remember that 34-game winning streak? -- dominating college football like no other school. During that span they captured two national championships, the only team to do so -- LSU or Ohio State will soon match them. Want more? Try an unprecedented six straight Pac-10 titles and likely a sixth straight appearance in the final AP Top 5 with a win over Illinois in the Rose Bowl. Argument against: One of their national titles was split with LSU, which won the BCS Championship but lost out to USC in the AP poll. Shouldn’t a school with 3 Heisman winners have more than 1 outright national title? Fair question. And if they ever get to the bottom of this Reggie Bush/agent story, the Trojans’ story could change completely. |
