I've googled it, but it seems at first glance to be for recording purposes. It also seems to be costly!

It's a monthly subscription service with a lot of good detail but pretty unnecessary. Everything can be found for free these days so unless he wants to get a job and pay the monthly fee himself...

Once started, it is difficult to stop the subscription.
