3:21AM - Wide Awake - 6:30AM is gonna suck!

Our Son woke me up about 45 minutes ago. He said he had a bad dream and decide to crawl into bed with us. I think he just wanted to cuddle with momma which is what I wanted to do! Needless to say, both of them are sawing logs and I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed right now.

The bad news is it will only last maybe another hour or so then when 6:30 rolls around I'm gonna be dog tired with that fuzzy head thing going on. In about 5 hours I will be on my 5th cup of coffee. I will have the gitters come noon time so I will eat a big fat lunch to calm my hyperactivity then about 2:00 in the afternnon I will get the nod factor setting in and will be able to fall asleep, at my desk, sitting straight up.

Come 3:00PM I will go get some more coffee to give me that boost for the drive home at 6:00PM. Once home, my darling wife will have made me pasta which she makes only 12 times a week and I will gladly scoff down 3 helpings with a beer or two to settle my now rapidly beating heart that has more caffiene coursing through it than it knows what to do. Nighttime will not be friendly - FBB (fat belly bloat) QRLS (quasi-restless leg syndrome) combined with RMT (racing mind tendency) will keep me awake till 2:00AM when the cycle repeats.

How do I know this? Been there, done that too many times.

Yay for the night owl club.

I have horrid sleeping patterns due to working the day shift a new times and switching to the night shift the following day. Having exactly 24hrs off work is horrid.

Oh well. Good luck to the OP on getting some rest. I think you might be over thinking things however. Have some tea......

Watching ABC World News Now - never saw it before. Very hot Redhead covering the NH prime. I love Redheads. I think I'm gonna go take back my position, push that lil rascal to the foot of the bed and cuddle with my Redhead...

Know how it feels, just got off redeye from Las Vegas to NYC, taxi to hotel to drop my bags and have breakfast, then start work - I'm thinking my day ends at 4PM today, or as soon as I can check in and go to sleep.

I seem to live in a permanently sleep deprived state. I usually have to be in the office at 5:30AM so if I don't want to be asleep when the kids are starting their homework, I have to run sleep deficits until the weekend. Then my wife complains that I nap too much.

Mike,
Welcome to my world, I've had severe, persistent insomnia for about 7 years now and I have many sleepless nights and the mornings are hell... I try to remember that many people have it far worse than me, but thats a small consolation at "o-dark-thirty" in the morning after not sleeping...

Happens to me all the time. We usually have an early wake up for some long flights and really perturbs me to wake up at 0300 when I need my sleep and the alarm is set for 0500 or the like.

Usually end up getting up and taking care of business as once you are awake, lying in bed does no good.

Some of them are kinda cute... especially with a M-16 in their hands.

Are you paraphrasing the Bloodhound Gang song?

"I never thought missing children could be so sexy. Did I just say that out loud?"

No caffeine after noon. Cut back on the beer and carbs and get in an easy 15 minute jog before dinner. Don't nap. Hot shower after a show with the kids (9ish), time with the wife (you know what I mean) and lights out. See you at 6am.

As we get older we sleep less. Lots of reasons, I suppose, but I believe it's reduced fitness combined with increased stress. Try to fix those two things and you'll benefit regardless.

Exactly. You need to break the cycle. NO COFFEE in the afternoon. No nap. Nice big bowl of pasta for dinner and you'll sleep like a baby.

Nice, had a shot like that of a gal I know on vacation in Afghanistan, holding an RPG.

You need to get more exercise and less coffee in the afternoon. Walk in the AM; if it is cold, go to an indoor shopping mall or wear appropriate attire. If you smoke, quit, eat green apples, chew gum, put a taser between your toes, whatever it takes. You are better off boozin' it up than smoking if you ask me, but tobacco goes so well with liquor...

OK - I throttled back on the java. Only had two so far. I will not do any this afternoon. Maybe after work I'll play some ball with the ragrats or at least chase them around the house. They love that.

TABS - the pills don't make me sleepy but if you have any ideas I am always game for a new chemical???

I have that restless leg syndrome 2-3x a week. My feet get this crazy shock sensation that makes my legs jerk. Other than standing on a cold tile floor for 10 minutes I haven't found a good resolution. I'm also under lots of stress these days and combined with my bad shoulders sleep is coming in 90 intervals these days. I used to be able to take a 1/2 Tylenol PM that would help keep me down but now I'm up to a full pill and still no relief. Just another thing to talk to the Doc about...

20 lbs over weight, exercise 3-4x week, sensible diet, cholesterol > 300, bp fine with meds. Sucks to get old.

Lubby what are you doing to yourself...Buddy your setting yourself up for the big one in a few years...spelled C..O..R..O..N..A..R..Y.....What is it that makes you keep having to run...U do this U do that and keep adding more stuff to the plate...and one day the circuits are going to go overload and thats gona be it for Lubby.

What are U afraid of that U have to keep it at arms length. To always stay in motion to avoid. Thats something U need to figure out, cause your time is running.

Everybody has some kind of stress or another. I had to realize I couldn't control it, and had to roll with the punches. No one is in control of anything, your life is on a banana peal. Once U let go of trying to control situations including how you feel or trying to keep on doing in spite of how you feel then you find that you actually have some self determination. Ironic huh?

IMO..your either afraid of something or are avoiding alot of pain. I don't need to know what it is, but U do need to figure it out, and better living through chemicals may get you through the day, but they don't solve the problem and doesn't change the course of eventually blowing a piston rod through the case one day.

One thing Ben Franklin said over 200 years ago has always stuck with me. He said that 90% of all men kill themselves in one way or another through their own behavior.

Yeah. And the other 10% die of something else.
