As good as GM is, $100K is getting kinda' close to Porsche GT-3 territory.
This is the "shooting for the moon" I was talking about. Rather than building to a price, GM, at least with its more premium brands, is building a car and then pricing it. This is how MB did it in the days before Lexus was ripping of their designs.

Wait until they move that new V8 behind the driver in the next generation SuperVette. I'm guessing it'll be in the buck-fifty neighborhood.

I saw a deal on that new ZR1, looks like for $100G's it would be a performance bargain to me.

GM builds an awful lot of crap, AMG, not so much

agree 1,000%.

still wouldn't own a GM product for all the tea in China.

I know 2 people with nearly new Cadillacs. 1 Escalade, 1 XLR, the Escalade has been in the shop numerous times. The XLR has been in the shop 24 times & now the paint on the front fenders is changing colors. He's hiring a lawyer.

IIRC, GM lost money on the Allante mainly because of all the shipping involved with the main components. Couple that with poor sales and buh bye.

So, I don't think the pricing was developed after but at a point where it was perceived to do well against it's competition.

I wouldn't take Motor Trend's opinion very seriously. Previous previous COTY "winners" include the Renault Alliance and the 74 Mustang.

Just the same, I like the CTS-V, not that I could afford one, but I think they are very cool. I love the exterior styling, but hoo-boy... there is no way I could live with that dash. Not even a possibility.

In fact, it's things like that that kill it for Cadillac, IMO. They could have a winner here, but by trying to be ultra funky/modern with the interior, they end up with a garrish car instead of a classy car. If they had just gone with an understated dash with quality materials, I think it'd be much more attractive. Again, I'm not the demographic they're shooting for, but I have a hard time imagining that dash would be an ADVANTAGE over BMW, Audi or Mercedes.

Great car, but a logistic nightmare to manufacture.

There is one in town and when I see it, I think it's a damn good-looking car.

allantes have a following.

more cars like that and GM might have a half decent reputation.
