Video: Old turbo used for DIY jet engine

Pretty cool video of some young guys playing with a homemade jet engine. Sounds like the bearings are shot and the turbo is ready to grenade...

That's nothing. Guys have been using old turbos for this kind of stuff for a while.

Pretty Cool good learning tool for kids.

Safety is a concern though I would not want to be standing around in shorts and flip flops when the old turbo compressor wheel starts shucking pieces. Yikes Watched a Pratt PT6 tested to destruction once (In a protected test cell). Once is starts it's all over.
