I am sorry I posted this also in the 944 Forum, oops.
I was just curious if anyone owned a company that was interested in offering a Disabled Vet a scholarship to help me support my 2 children and wife while I attend full time school at Apollo College! I know that scholarships are a write off on taxes. We are in great need of assistance, and I am not sure what kind of response I could get if any. I am in my 2nd semester of Radiology Tech training and hope I don't have to drop out due to lack of income. I am a 3.6 Gpa. I want you to know that I would only do this if I had no other choice. I have searched over 500 scholarships on sites like scholarships.com and fastweb.com and I do not qualify for 90% of them, the ones I do I have already applied for and apparently didn't get selected. If you have any info that could help I would appreciate it or if you are interested in helping a fellow Porsche owner and Vet please respond here or through PM. Thank you very much and God Bless America!!! Robert D.

Robert, as a fellow student, I can't offer any scholarships to you. However, a couple of suggestions. You should look into the resources offered to you as a vet. Does the USMC/VA offer any sort of career/college counseling or assistance services? If so, someone like that would be a good one to ask. Being a veteran, can't you take advantage of the GI Bill for school expenses? I have several friends that are going to school for free after 4 years in the military.
Also, talk to the financial aid office at your school. Not only can they help advise you regarding scholarships, but they can get you set up for loans and grants. If your situation is as rough as you say, you should easily qualify for enough in loans and grants to pay your tuition. Can you cut back at school to work somewhere? I know it's not easy, but it can be done. I've spent the last two years as a full-time aerospace engineering student, working two jobs to support my wife and two kids. Don't give up! It may be hell now, but it will all be worth it when you're done. I graduate in May, so the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter, as is the future. Thanks for your service to our country!

If you have a service connected disability, you may be able to receive a family subsistence allowance through this program: http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/vre/vrs.htm

Robert, avoiding student loans is a wise approach, but not always realistic. With the cost of education, it's nearly impossible to both go to school and support a family. Also, all of the state/federal loans offered have deferred payments, meaning you don't have to start repayment until after you graduate. The subsidized loans also do not charge you any interest until after you finish school.
Loans or not, be sure you apply for financial aid. I'm sure your college has a financial aid office that can help you with the process. If nothing else, you can accept the grants and refuse the loans. A grant is free money, can't beat that.

Look around for people or organizations offering help. I am on the board of directors of a aviation related organization and we offer help for people going into our field. Might be the same situation for you in your field.

At 5% max, you can't go wrong. Buy the family a house while you are at it.

What's your budget? How much do you need for school? For "life." What will a scholarship accomplish for you?
I can't help, I've already hired two vets, one disabled, who are great, but I think folks here need some more info to help you out. So I guess all that Military advertising about join now, we'll pay for school later isn't really all that.
