Shaving razors
Can anyone recommend a good shaving razor? I've been using the Gillette 5 blade razors. What's nice is that they leave a very close shave. Unfortunately those tightly compacted 5 razors also clog up very easily, usually in the first 1/2 inch of the stroke. Therefore i need to make multiple passes before that one strip is shaved and i can move to the next.

a disposable bic twin blade without the uber-lotion strip works fine. best shave for the buck. i can't stand these 3, 4, 5 blade monstrosities. too much work..

I'm still stuck in Gillette Sensor (two blade and strip) territory. I get the generic refills from a local drug store chain (CVS) and all is good.
For me the cartridge/blade angle, size and weight of the Sensor is ideal compared to others.

The Gillette Mach 3 is awesome; I've been using it for awhile. I tried the 5 blade deal, but it didn't seem to shave well, and it left my skin all red.

yeah the gillete mach 3 is the best of the bunch. I have a thick beard that grows quick, and the mach 3 has worked flawlessly for years. Tried the fusion (the 5 blade one) didn't care for it much.

Im a fan of the Gillette Mach 3.
5 blades does seem like too many! Norelco, that's an electric? I've used electrics, but they take too long for me to do a good job. I hop out of the shower and shave in like 15 seconds. |

The electric shavers seem to irritate my skin, leaving red spots in some areas. I guess my skin is too ginger for electric shavers.

I use the Fusion 5 vibrating one - works great for me. I do have to rinse alot as mentioned above.
I also have an electric which makes my neck break out for some reason. May just need some new blades. The electric sure is convenient, gives a decent shave as well.

Mach 3 is good. Mach 3 turbo is better. The Fusion (five blades plus the vibro-thing) is amazing. I've had no problems with clogging.
I use Art of Shaving for the cream, maybe that would help your clogging problem?

I have tried at least 50 electric shavers over the years. It's not a matter of best, it's a matter of best fit. Everyones hair grows differently. The Braun Synchro is the best I've found for me so far. A great one I had years ago was a Panasonic "linear" that you could use in the shower, good results also.
I can't use a blade on my neck as it ALWAYS cuts and drives me nuts. I could shave my cheeks dry without problem but my neck is a bastard.

THe 5 blade is excellent. You must rinse it under running water with every other stroke or so. I received mine thru the mail as a promotion in June. It is still sharp; something I cannot say about any other blade razor. Electrics do not do it for me for some reason. Haven't found one yet that gives me the absolute smooth shave I really want. Maybe I just haven't found the right one yet.

Mach 3 turbo, 'Anthony' (great stuff but expensive) pre-shave oil first, then a thin layer of shaving gel. Frequent cold water blade rinses. Like butter!
I chuckeled when I saw the vibrating model...what's the theory behind this? ![]()
