What an interesting car and quite good looking too!

Reminds me of a 924/240Z/Ford Capri all mixed up together.
They look like 911 rear lights but upside down.

I'd like to see it in person, but the front end in the photo looks as ugly as a two-headed housecat.

I actually bought one of these, a 1973 VW SP2, brand spanking new, in Campinas, Brasil in 1973. It was only produced for a couple of years there, and never allowed to export by the German parent company, which was busy trying to sell 914's at the time in most of the world, and Karmann Ghia's in the US.

It was a great car, still rear engined, swing axles, not a huge power plant, 1600cc or maybe 1800cc, not sure any longer. 4 speed trans and a nice, but simple interior. My new bride & I spent many a fun weekend touring Brasil in tha car. I wanted to bring it home to the US with me but all the safety and smog regs were too daunting for me at that time, so I sold it to a co-worker and sadly we were parted.

10 years later i finally purchased my first 911, so I am okay about all of that now, of course..

That front reminds me of a 411 or 412 wagon:

this car is about 15 minutes away from me. Now I know what I'm going to do on Saturday.

At first glance, it sure looks like a 240Z with a body kit.

I always liked the looks of those. There was a blue one on Ebay last year as well. Kill the 4x4 wheelwell gap and it would really look nice.

Cool because it's rare but it's not a looker plus it needs to be lowered.
