I survived Hana Montana

My daughter and I took the 30 minute drive to Columbia today. The goal: To see the Hana Montana tour movie. My daughter's take? It's GREAT.

She should. She's ten. But to my surprise, I also thought it was pretty good. (Not Fifteen-dollars-a-head-good, regardless what my daughter thinks.) What did I like? Between each song they showed some "behind-the-scenes" footage. I thought the scenes were quite interesting. And the 3D effects were also good (barring a few overly obvious moments). And I also think Mylie will prove to be a much better role model that Britney. After all, when's the last time you heard something bad about Billy Ray?
  • I rate the tour-movie a 4.
  • My daughter rates it 10+.
  • I rate time with my daughter at 1,000+

Oh, I did find out I’m an old-fart. I was told to stop clapping to one song. Apparently I was being "an embarrassment..."

I've heard it's better after you smoke two joints and eat a bowl of shrooms.

Rob: Good for you. Years ago, I endured a New Kids on the Block concert with 50,000 screaming poppers (plus many parental units like me). Time well spent.

Hat's off for taking time to do the dad thing, my youngest went from ten to college in a flash (glad I had boys though).

And then sell them for thousands.

We're going to that movie too.

If you have a young daughter this song can easily bring a tear to your eye -

My son just took two of the grand daughters to a Hana Montana concert here in Milwaukee and I think that it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over $15 bucks!

I went to a Barney (the purple Dinosaur) concert with my little girl a few years ago at the Oakland Arena. This was the same place I saw dozens of Grateful Dead shows. Talk about weird.

I am a firm believer that its the parents that REALLY want to see the show and the child rides along as the reason. This tour recently came to Pittsburgh and it was completely laughable when the parents complained about shelling out $200 to scalpers. Like it was their American right to have affordable Hannah Montana tickets. I've got 4 kids (3 girls and 1 boy) and none of them have EVER asked or begged to go to any of these events. If they did, sure I would take them. Maybe they see through the hype?

I'm glad its doing well, haven't seen it. Based on the takes at the shows, I was doubtful. But it had a great director, Bruce Hendricks, who is also the head of physical production at Disney. We're also doing another Hannah Montana movie starting in a few months. Much of it will be shot in Tennessee and/or Louisiana, still up in the air.
