Would you get a PPI done on an 2006 car?

Car (Boxster) has a clean Car Fax. 7500 miles. Undercarriage is straight and correct, no disturbance to undercoating material. No signs of paint work (Its metallic paint). Nothing amiss under the front boot or trunk.

Got a good vibe from the dealer. They are a no commission, fixed price shop. Both sales staff I spoke with seemed knowledgeable.

Would I be a fool to skip the PPI?

I'd be mostly concerned about the body. If it were me, and I had access to the car, I'd check it all over with a paint meter, do a very careful look to see if it looks like it has ever been damaged, do a test drive, and buy it if it all checked out.

Obviously, the mechanicals will all be covered by the factory warranty. If anything is wrong, or pops up, you'll just get it fixed.

2nd opinion from a trusted source never hurts. I'd at least have another set of eyes look it over.

A few hundred bucks for PPI will not hurt you. What is a .00X% of PPI cost relative to your purchase price and sanity?

Spend it!

Agreed on at least a second set of eyes (dispassionate). My roommate from college was looking at a BMW R75 (or something like that ) it was about 30 years ago, and he brought me, who knew nothing about bikes to ride along. He's drooling over this thing and I say "Hey, why is the left thingy (shock housing) shiny and the right one is dull?". My friend didn't get a straight answer and ended up not buying it.

If buying from the dealer or other class act, you're probably okay. If a private party who has service records from day one, and they looked you over to see if you are "worthy" of their baby, you're probably okay.

If the car is on the corner of "Honest Al's Used Cars", don't get a PPI- Just run away.
