So ...the idiot hates the style, knows it's not a correct 'copy' ...and buys it anyway because ...the price was right???

If the guy actually did know anything about Porsche 550 spyders, he would realize that the "wrong" rear end that is on most of our cars (we have a Thunder Ranch) is actually one of the many rear end treatments the original cars received. I also would prefer one without such tall rear haunches. But they rear came in multiple configurations, some tall, some short, some very flat and a couple of them were raised to almost 57 chevy fin-like proportions. The weirdest one was called the "bucklewagon." The back of that looked like half the hull of a boat turned upside down.
I was really surprised when I researched this. Some of the 550's even had roll up side glass. Windshield treatments varied, headlamp placement etc. Most of them looked like the James Dean car, but truly there was alot of variance in these essentially hand built vehicles. ![]() angela
