My new ride in 1965.
I got the fire truck for X-mas, my little brother got the Ford. Is that a T-bird, fairlane, or galaxy maybe?

This is a close-up of one like I had.
Note there wasn't money for this sort of stuff new back then so dad bought them from the junkyard and fixed them up.

'52 Murry Scoop fender I restored 2 years ago. I dragged it out of the dirt floor shed where someone parked a riding lawn mower on top of it for years. It was bought new by an extended family member. Only the hubcaps are repro, I made the seat / Upholstery from scratch.

Did everything myself in my little HotRod shop. I could've restored a full size one for the amount of time I spent.

It was a gift to my grand-nephews on my sister's side / her oldest son. She and I collaborated on the project as far as what she wanted the end result to be. I wanted to do a rat-rod / Ed Roth kind of deal as it was sooo rough, but she wanted it to look period correct brand new...…………………of course.

I gave her the exterior color charts from early 50's GM cars to pick from. Gave her free reign on fabric / color for the seat but I specified it had to be a pattern of some sort.

This was the end result. The kids were thrilled...……... but have already outgrown it.

To some extent I’ve always been fond of guys who marched their own drum beat. To that end I got a believe this guy – who I see around town half a dozen times a year – is probably one of those guys. With my old texts and daddy would call a “character”.

Ps - while I’ve never seen the trailer, the canoe has been on top every single time I’ve seen him - for at least a decade or so...
