I remember watching "Duel" when it was first broadcast on TV. I was about 12 and I remember thinking that Dennis Weaver was an idiot for driving that ****box slant-6 Valiant. "Duel" was very emblematic of the "malaise" of the '70s. Anyone who ever saw "Duel" undoubtedly came to the conclusion that 1. Underpowered economy cars suck, and 2. Always carry a loaded .357 with you on road trips.

That was a great movie back in the day. I sat on the edge of my chair throughout.
Weaver was a super-nerd in a super nerd car but I wanted him to figure out how to come out of the nightmare. Epic.
