Sitting at the airport, waiting for a delayed flight is awesome!

Yup, crap weather back east so us guys on the wet coast have to wait...

I'm sorry.

The worst I ever had was I had a 10:00am flight from Las Vegas to Chicago, and then from Chicago to Bloomington. I was supposed to be home by 3:00pm. Because of weather delays, I didn't get home until 11:00pm...

Just be happy they didn't put you on your plane and then hold you hostage in it.

My worst...stuck christmas eve in DFW. Ice storm. All flights scancelled to everywhere. With my then gf...we had been on a 3 month island hopping adventure in the carribean. We only had shorts and tshirts left having given away all our clothes before leaving Carracas VZ that morning loaded down with gifts/souvenirs. Slept on the floor of the airport. Didn't get out until 3 p.m. Xmas day on a 4 stop connection that got us home around midnite.

We broke up shortly thereafter

I was once stuck in Sanaa, Yemen back in the eighties, for three days because they obviously could not find one single plane that was not broken in some way.

It was one of those sublime moments in life you never forget. Took forever to get onboard the first plane and then it never took off. I had a window seat by the left wing. Two airline bloks on the ground under the wing one of which had a long stick he kept poking at the wing. Then he took forth a large piece of paper that looked like some kind of map. Both of them starred at it for a minute. Then, suddenly, the other chap turned the map up side down, they both nodded at each other and smiled and proceeded poking with the long stick for a while. That is when I started to really feel sick to my stomach. Ten minutes later we were asked to leave the plane..

That would certainly go a long way toward a more service minded airport business strategy!

The bad part was that this was in union run British Columbia (Victoria International Airport), I had already cleared security and was sitting in the only wing. The place was packed because every flight wasdelayed and they shut down the coffee shop / concession stand.

They had a captive audience for customers who could not leave and they shut it down. Typical union operation, run for the the conveience of the staff, not the customers...
