Valentine's Day again

Every year finding something to do different is getting harder.

How about we share some ideas? I can't keep doing the same thing indefinitely, without it all seeming routine and dull.

Cratch slapping is fine, I'll beat you to it, but how about some real ideas. Anybody creative out there?

Doing nothing is not an option.

There's only a few days left....

Dinner + card = same old song and dance

I just refuse to acknowledge it as a holiday.

Yep. It's a holiday for showing that you're willing to spend your money foolishly to show what the other party should already know by now...your love for them. Runaway consumerism, just like Xmas nowadays. Oh well, what to get my wife.

I bet the cash registers at Victoria's Secret are on tilt. That isn't a bad idea.

Please don't delete that, let others read it at work and nearly cry.

I think this thread is pointless Doug, what're we gonna do that we haven't already done????

I'm thinking dinner, flowers, card. But ahh its so routine. I'm tired of the routine too.

I'm still thinking about that bumper sticker thread; my fav:
I like snatching kisses and visa versa.

I've been quoting that all week. Good advise
Good Luck finding someone on PPOT that'll actually give us something we can work with here?

Skip it. It's not worth being stupid. Fortunately, I married a wife who's ok with that idea. For those of you who haven't done this, you might end up buying flowers at other random times through the year, or taking her to dinner at other times, you know, to promote the idea that we shouldn't have a single particular DAY set aside to show our love, but that we should love each other all year long.

Hey, it worked for me. Good luck to the rest of you.

Something that's worked for me in the past, when I wasn't married to someone as sane, was to make dinner. Skip the flowers, just make a nice dinner. It doesn't have to be fantastic, but you need to put forth effort. If your cooking expertise topped out at Mac 'n' Cheese, try making simple spaghetti. If you're a master chef, then you'd better be prepared to do a lobster bisque and grouper with frizzled leeks. Either way, according to my wife's feminine logic, you're covered, because you're "showing effort."

Cheers,

Dan

Not many ladies' men here, sheesh. It won't hurt you to make her feel special a few days a year. Women are funny that way, and a little thought on V Day goes a long way. I actually look forward to spoiling her a bit and making the day as special as possible. She deserves it for all the crap she puts up with from me.

As for ideas.... sorry, but I can't share. She visits this place regularly

I just hate being forced to come up with an idea the same day every other schmo in the country is trying to come up with an idea. I do birthdays and Christmas pretty well, but I'm pretty "holiday-ed out" by the time February rolls around.

Talk to me after you have more than 30 years of marriage under your belt.

Seriously, if you make her feel special all throughout the year, she'll automatically see how stupid Valentine's Day is.

that newspaper "clipping" killed me.

ok, along with my flowers to the office, i am going to have a nice dinner ready at home. something that involves a big pot of clams ought to do the trick. serve it all up in big bowls with hunks of crusty san francisco sourdough........

I ordered from Pajamagram.com this year. Never used them before. Hopefully all will turn out well.
