Superman's 2008 Motoring Decisions
Just a quick note, and a word of advice.
I have a Ford Ranger, X-cab, 4WD 3L, 5-speed, canopy. don't go with the 3L. Apparently, the rule of thumb is that the 4-cylinders get 30 mpg and the 6-cylinders get 20 mpg. Regardless of size. My 3L has just over 200K miles, and I don't want to be the guy who tries to maintain this vehicle over the next few years. Yesterday I picked up a 4L Ranger. Manual. They say the 4L is too strong for the auto tranny. I like manuals anyway. I believe this will get as good mileage as the 3L because it has WAY more power and smoothness, especially at low RPM's. Ranger x-cab is a good small truck. The 4L is the way to go. I also found a 911. '79 RoW SC. Polar Silver. Tail, chin spoiler, SSI's, H4's, strut brace...... Good car, but needs my style of TLC. Many things need adjusting and tuning and greasing. But I think it's a solid car. Black interior. I feel like Samson with his hair back. Gotta go. PS.....both vehicles are silver. I've always liked silver.

A real man of steel would drive an Aubergine 911.

Does this mean you will now return to being our regular ray of sunshine?
![]() Rangers are good trucks. I considered buying one, but with the cost of gas everyone wants a small truck. I swear the damn things are appreciating. My father-in-law has a '96 with a 4-cylinder auto, it easily gets 30 MPG+ on the highway.

Congrats - good to hear you're getting back in the saddle. Sorry to hear about the loss of your other SC, hopefully this one lasts a good long time!

4.o Ranger here..a '99 4 door XLT...odo just turned 45,000. Automatic. So far, so good...thought we may have been having transmission problems, but a local trans shop gave it a complete fluid flush and an okay. I guess they just natually "hunt" for the right gear a bit, and the pan sludge build-up is normal
during the initial break-in miles. Really, zero problems other than above. Routine service, mobil 1 oil...
