Are you guys focused that narrowly? No classical, jazz or blues lovers in the group??
Beethoven's Sixth Symphony. The Deutsche Grammaphone Recording with Karajan I think. IMO moving. Miles. Kind of Blue. Nothing really comes close and I never get tired of hearing it. Blues it would be Tracy Nelson's album of the same name. Every time I hear her do "Down so Low" I get the chills. For rock/pop it would probably be the White Album. Or the two CD compilation of Neil Young's greatest hits. But if it were just one it would be the Beethoven. |

I am also a huge Floyd and Beatles fan (who isn't?), but for me OK Computer has to be at the top of my list.

Agreed that the Karajan recording is epic. However, I am not sure that is an 'album'. |

There have been a lot posted that were/are influential and loved, but for all around down mood, up mood, drivin', partyin, and listening it would have to be this from the "Man in Black"..

Great thread. I went out on Amazon and bought Innervisions (I have the album but lack the turntable), Revolver, Aretha at the Filmore, Jeff Buckley and Shatner:cool:
I have most of the others, Dire Straits, SD and a ton of Motown. |

The King
Lots of good albums mentioned so far and I like most of them. But my pick for all-time--"In the Court of the Crimson King", King Crimson. Because all the music genres are iincorporated into one epic work. My biggest musical influence by far.

Lot's of great albums here, some that I listen to regularly 35+ years later such as John Prine (self titled) and Duane Allman Anthology which is just a stupendously great record. He was such a badass on so many levels, 6'4" redhead in the deep south playing in blues clubs at 14 years of age as a prodigy and accepted when he was the only honkey for miles. Insanely talented, I'm still hurting over losing him. It'll never go away completely.

Great, great record. Bring back the Melatron. |
I am so ashamed. I grew up to my mom listening to this cat all the time. Then one day I realized…I knew all the words to every song.

Impossible to state just one, but the soundtrack to Until the End of the World is brilliant.

Twin Sons of Different Mothers,
Fogelberg and Weisberg Speeder, I agree with you on the Allman Brothers. I can still remember them in Macon. Spencer |
