Calling All Commies

On his way to the big dirt nap & eternity smoking Satan's corona gorda in hell, that murderous b@stard & hero to lefties everywhere, Fidel Castro, stepped down today. He turned power over to his murderous b@stard brother, who is sure to continue the misery instituted by Fidel. Hollywood is said to be planning the party of the century for his retirement. Maybe Dottore can dig up Che's corpse & go as his date.SmileWavy

I personally think we should have gotten over the cuban embargo decades ago. I mean we got on with Viet Nam, China and the Ruskies, why not Cuba? Answer, the flipped us the finger and got away with it in our shadow. Looking back on history, if a country like Cuba wants to be communal/communist, and a dictatorship, why the fu(k should we care? Similarly, if Hugo Chavez wants to create great social programs for his countrymen and sell us his national resources, which are a one time deal, to pay for his great social experiments, why shouldn't we take him up on the opportunity to plunder his national resources at the long term detriment of his countrymen? Same thing with the Arabs, why not use up their oil first?

Hugh, you ask "why" we do those stupid things? Because we have enough idiots who seem incapable of realizing the true nature of the issues. They would rather run their mouths and call names and demonize almost anything that they do not understand. And what they do not understand is legion!

You are exactly correct. Our goofball embargo or whatever the hell it is of
Cuba should have been over about 30 years ago.

And ya know what? Castro would not have likely survived as long as he did if we lifted it.

stevepaa 02-19-2008 09:49 PM

careful, you will start making too much sense.

the kowtowing done by our politicians to the free cuba folks in Florida has been a disgrace. it has only prolonged Fidel's grip on Cuba

DARISC 02-19-2008 09:59 PM

Damn right! Castro stayed in power because we put him in power via the embargo. If we were the least bit interested economically in Cuba as opposed to playing sandbox politics, this thread would not even exist.

Tobra 02-19-2008 10:41 PM

Maybe not this thread, but there would be another one just like it about some other damn place

Legion makes plenty of sense to me, and I agree with him a lot more than I do you, though I can't find anything to disagree with in this post, which is a bit disturbing.

Dueller 02-19-2008 10:45 PM

Well if the embargo is lifted I'm gonna get me a NAPA franchise in Havana stocking only pre-1960 GM and Ford parts.

varmint 02-19-2008 10:55 PM

in college we played a game called "chomsky". it was exactly like the kevin bacon game. only in six stages or less, you had to blame america.

castro is still in power because he is a dictator who has crushed-jailed-tortured-executed-and exiled all opposition. the entire rest of the ****ing world trades with cuba. it's economy is a shambles because it's run by a communist. and the money from the trade has been used to better oppress the people.

hope he and che enjoy the giant disembodied pig cock that will be their roommate for all eternity in hell.

Mule 02-20-2008 05:18 AM

Careful with that embargo talk guys. That was instituted by the greatest democrat of all time JFK, praise his holy name.

Mule 02-20-2008 05:22 AM

Another thing that puzzles me, the pc, Hollywood left is swinging on Castro's ***** but his whole country is driving 50's vehicles rigged to run on kerosene. What happened to the left's environmental commitment. If ya' didn't know no better, ya might get the impression that the real commitment is to communism.

Why don't we end the embargo with Cuba?

1) Castro stole a whole bunch of U.S. property when he took over. He's yet to cut anyone he stole from a check.

2) As has already been pointed out, any money would go to oppressing the majority of Cubans and making a very small group in the government rich. I find it ironic that people who b!tch endlessly about the smallest inequities in the U.S. find this perfectly fine in Cuba.

3) Words in favor of Cuba are politically popular with the left. Actually taking action would be political suicide.

Totally agree, its time that it ended, like years ago.

Saudi Arabia did the same thing & we blow 'em. The embargo helped keep Castro in power.

The best way to conduct foreign policy is through trade and the inevitable cultural exchanges that accompany trade.

The Cuban trade embargo is sheer political stupidity. Lifting the embargo will be good for us and good for Cuba.

Castro owns all the major companies (Forbes estimates his wealth to be nearly $1 billion). Trade with Cuba = Castro becomes a multi-billionaire.

So we're too late & I still want Cohiba Lanceros & Montechristo #2s.
