May the fleas of 1,000 camels infest my armpits :( :D |
I had a new [$5,300] 69 427/390 for a few years. No power anything and it drove like a truck.
Drove it x-country with a bud once. 8,000mi in 2 weeks, 8-9 mi/gal. |
whats a mullet?

How long before this gets hot linked to a Corvette Forum and we get flooded with 1st time posters telling us how fast they run the 1/4 mile in?
Luke, see post number 38, all those guys are sporting them. Its a haircut, business in the front party in the rear. |

Some years back I happened on some U.S. race on TV, all Porsches and BMWs going at it. The announcers were all excited about the 3 cars battling for 2nd place, lap after lap. Finally the camera showed the first place car, one of the announcers breifly commenting "And here's the Mazda RX7 leader, a lap and a half up." Cracked me up :). About the frog eyes on my Vette - I freakin' HATE pop-up head lights and put those in - I considered them homage to my first sports car, a frog-eyed Sprite :D. |
Sure I would have on, I have had one and loved it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203644566.jpg

A Corvette is not Porsche but then neither is my Tahoe.
Porsches are cool. Corvettes are cool. I am a bit biased as my brother and I have Porsches and our parents have 3 Corvettes currently. |

There were OK until the C6 came along...I would buy one of those...the ZR1 looks to be awesome. The 60s vettes were always cool as well.

was going to buy a porsche, I tried really hard toSmileWavy
I bought a C6 06 che'vete I hope in the future they go in a different direction with the car (lighter, mid-engined turbo?) but I'm not holding my breath I forgot what poster I ripped that from. Che'vettes weigh in @ 3,150 #s yes the 911 steers much better...with the steering wheel - the che'vette steers better with the gas pedal:cool: |
Maybe one day
|
I hope that they build that!
( and that I can pay for it) |
When I went to LeMans in 2000, the C5 racers were a crowd favorite, esp. for the noise. Have to respect them for their racing efforts

So there is hope:D |
I would not keep it only because I could sell it and buy a used 993 biturbo instead. I used to own a 71 roadster w/ 4 speed that was great fun and the best balanced muscle car era US car I have owned. Here a picture of my former "penis mobile" :)

I've driven a couple hundred make and models ranging from Simca, Gremlin, Rambler to Volvo, Mercedes and Porsche. I'll gladly drive anything some gives me. haven't found a car that increased or lowered my intelligence, sophisticatication or changed the size of my penis yet. they're just cars to me. some better built, some faster, some more comfortable. some the opposite. didn't notice a sudden urge for gold chains when I had the 77 vette or gain any superpowers driving the 911

In my excitement I was driven to consult with several plastic surgeons. Every one of them told me that the FDA would not approve implants of the size worthy of the Porsche name - such implants were only available on the Philipine black market and are illegal because of the health risk. So I yielded to the urge to sell my gold chains and bought SSIs, Bilstein Sports, bigger rear torsion bars and a bunch of other goodies for my 911. |

I don't attach any stigma to the car as far as what the drivers look like but as a group they are more about 1/4 mile and show and shine. Ecklers, in Titusville Florida, a big Vette after market company put on a Vette only Autocross in its parking lot,....... once. One Vette blew it engine spilling oil all over the place, and in another totally unrelated incident, another one power slided into a light pole. That was the last time they held an Autocross. Every time I am at an Autocross I perk up and pay attention to the Vettes when I am course working, why? Not because they are sooooo cool. But because most of the time the drivers are out of control and endangering everyone around them. Florida lost is SCCA National Tour date because a Vette lost control and hit 2 course workers almost a football field away. I had to run at our PCA Miami Event as a Vette went sliding by sideways and into the woods. At an SCCA event in Sebring A vette did a power slide and was so out of wack it went off the pavement and a good 50 feet into the grass, no other car came close to leaving the pavement. In Gainesville at the test track, where they have no sense of humor about "offs" a Vette almost made it into the woods. Prompting us to shut down and have a talk with the safety folks there about continuing our event. I was at a track day in my MINI I was third in line to start a new run group. In front of me was a M3 and in front of him was a C5 Vette. When the green flag dropped the vette took off like a bat out of hell, the M# gave chase and I decided to take my 1st few turns easy on cold brakes and tires. Turn 1 the vette is in the infield spinning out of control and it almost gather up the M3 when it slid sideway onto the track. I can go on and on. When these guys show up at events a majority of them are out to prove something. There are a lot of really cool vette owners but the concentration of owners with more car than talent with something to prove far outweighs the cool crowd. So, yeah, I am not a huge fan of them |

I've always found the corvette styling too subtle and understated. When they start producing these I will be looking!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203688875.jpg
