Would you drive a Corvette?
Lets suppose you were given a new corvette in your favorite color. Would you drive it? Sell it? Grow a mullet?
|
Absolutely drive it...they aren't exactly my cup of tea, but they are amazing cars.
That being said, I would rather have someone give me a nice '63, '68, or '78 Corvette to drive over a new one. |
Sell. Use proceeds to fix up 911E. And build a garage.
|
I voted no, but not because they are cheesy. I'd want something that was at least 2+2 like the 993 or 997.
|
Sell only because I think I would feel silly being seen in it. Gold neck chain thing and all. My wife calls them "penis mobiles."

I voted no, not because they are cheesy cars.
I had to race against them in the SCCA in ASP in Autocross and the SCCA leans heavily towards favoring them. For that lone reason I detest them. My dad had one for a while and was really active in the Corvette club and it was a joke, they were more about polishing them up and armouralling their tire treads and then sitting next to them for 8 hours at a car show. They do not have any active track or Autocross activities like the PCA has. They are about sitting and looking at them. Dad has since sold it and kept his 3rd gen RX7 that puts 320 to the wheels weighing in at 2800 lbs. I showed him the light. :D |
Yes. Love the cars... Hate the guys (for the most part) that drive them.
|
Can I have an old one? 64 Convert. Not hot on the new ones. The new ones are very powerful & quick I just do want to be seen in it.
|
That pace car Corvette at the Daytona 500 probably could have lapped the field and beat all the "cars of tomorrow" at last Sunday's race. And I wish it would have.
Having that Corvette out there was like a pretty thin girl as the MC of a beauty pagent of porkers.. |
65 thru 67.....Anything else I would sell and use the money towards another ride.
|
I'm in the market for a 996, but I concidered a newer corvette instead.
The corvette performs very well, I just don't like the cheap plastic rattly feel. |
Yes, I would! I just love the styling of the newer models, course my 930 would whip it
Saw the "Corvette Racing" Vettes last year with the Badboy livery in ALMS, they are awesome cars. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1203626138.jpg |
Hell yea, see below.
|
No No No
|
yup, but it would be an 70's model T top.
|
don't care for newer corvettes, have driven C5 and C6. Plenty fast, will pull high G's in corners but I just don't like the way they drive. Would have to sell/trade it and get something I like

Of course I'd have another one. I had a wonderful '57 that I was too scared to dive (trailer queen, sold it to a "show freak") and had a '63. Great for sheer straight-line fun and had enough torque to help "steer with the right foot". Am looking at the upcoming ZR-1 as a fun test-drive.
|
I used to have a '69. Fun car to abuse.
I've driven the C-6, and it's a pretty impressive car. Drive one for free? You bet. |
My response is I'd keep it and drive it. Does it mean it would be my new favorite? Almost definitely not, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be an absolute blast to drive. Additionally, I've met plenty of Corvette guys that are as nice and normal as any of us Porsche guys. Sure, that marque has it's collection of idiots, but so does our group, to be honest.
