Time to Bring Police Death Squads to Los Angeles

The LAPD was involved in a running gun battle with a bunch of gang members yesterday here in LA. Daytime gun battle between them! I say its time to bring south american style death squads to LA, where they break into known gang members houses and drag them away and their bodies are never found, or their bullet ridden bodies are found dumped on a street corner.

Were the Gang Memebers using Assualt Rifles which are illegal in CA? Can you post a link...I think it would make a great movie...sure it wasn't a movie in production?

LA Police Kill 1 in Gang Gunbattle

Feb 21 11:59 PM US/Eastern
By DAISY NGUYEN
Associated Press Writer Write a Comment

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Two gang shootings led to a police gunbattle Thursday in which officers killed one gunman, wounded another and captured a suspect in a surging gang conflict, authorities said. A victim in the first gang shooting also died.
Two schools were locked down for hours and residents of the densely populated Glassell Park area were ordered to stay inside as heavily armed officers swarmed the neighborhood during the search.

The police gunbattle followed two gang shootings around midday: the first in which a man carrying a toddler was shot multiple times and a car-to-car shooting soon afterward, authorities said.

The first shooting victim died a few hours later, Officer Jason Lee said. The child he was carrying suffered bruises from being dropped but was not hit by gunfire. Police didn't say whether anyone was wounded in the second shooting.

Police Chief William Bratton said plainclothes officers went to a known location for the Avenues gang and found four suspects in both shootings.

Three suspects got out of the car and opened fire with three weapons, said Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz.

The officers fired back, killing one person armed with an AK-47 and wounding another, Bratton said.

"Fortunately our officers were the ones left standing after that shootout," said Bratton, whose SWAT team lost a veteran officer to a deranged gunman's bullet earlier this month.

The car's driver sped off and another suspect fled into the neighborhood.

Officers searched the area and captured a man believed to be the latter suspect as he fled from a house.

A KABC-TV news helicopter captured the scene as the man lay face down in an alley, put his hands behind his back and was immediately set upon by a police dog that violently pulled on one of his arms.

The two officers involved in the earlier gunbattle identified the man as being involved in that shooting, Diaz said.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested for investigation of murder and shooting at police officers, Lee said.

Police said the violence involved the Avenues and Cypress gangs.

"For approximately the last month, two of the gangs in this area of the city ... gangs that have been here for generations, have been going at each other," Bratton said.

Los Angeles has had a significant reduction in gang violence in the last few years but the northeast area is among "hotspots" that emerge from time to time, Diaz said.

Speaking of gangs and movies, one of the most compelling yet horrific scenes I have ever seen is in "Training Day" when Denzel Washington leaves Ethan Hawke at the gang bangers' house. Sheesh!

Damn, that's a nice shot! I love how they have to mention the dog attacking a suspect, shortly after he shot at the police. Boo hoo. Get a bigger dog, it would save the taxpayers a fortune.

I used to travel a lot: AZ, FL, CO, MN, OH, TX,.......

I have been in California since 1978. It is not as bad as news portrays it to be. I just wished for 2 things: 1) reactivate rolling smog-exemptions and 2) be like AZ where everyone can carry guns.

On the other hand, it is just my opinion.

The area of the projects, Imperial Courts, was my former area of patrol......The other area was in an East LA neighborhood, David

I graduated from East Los Angeles College (ELAC). Frequented E.LA., Montebellow, Whittier, City of Commerce, etc. I spent countless nights around Monte Carlos, Low-Riders, jumpy-cars, cruising nights, A-shirts wearing-dudes, net-haired dudes, etc.

Luckily, through those 5 years, not a single incident.

You must be the guys who almost gave me a 'no cruising ticket!'

Yea that gun ban sure stops those gangbangers from gettin' 'em, doesn't it? Yep. Prime piece of legislation there. Real effective. I sleep so much better knowing that gangbangers can't POSSIBLY get their hands on high-powered weaponry. Yessirree.

It's the gun's fault...wanna bet that "AK47" was semi auto...not full rock n' roll?

But really think about this...knives, forks, and spoons made Rosie O'donnel fat...and mouthy.

Yeah, but then someone will get it on video, post it here, and we'll have another "bad cop" thread on our hands.

Oh, I have no problem with a cop or his dog attacking a bad guy, when he is tackling a 14 y/o skateborder??...... I hoe you can see the difference.

I have posted it many time before, I have access to a Miami / Dade cops blog / diary and he kicks the living crap out of the bad guys and I cheer for him. But when I see a meter maid wrestling a kid to the ground I DO get upset.

I frequented those same areas cruising and hanging out as well as a teenager. We had great times!
