PDA question...

this is for someone who knows pda's.....i'm looking for a pda which can run the adobe reader program. i tried to find an adobe reader program for my phone but haven't had any luck, so i'm looking into a pda.
what good and cheap which will work?

All Palm PDAs and Treo can run an Adobe reader program. Mine does perfectly.

Yes, Treo is what you are looking for. Different PDAs have different abilities. iPhones are music and multi media devices but aren't useful for documents and corporate email. Blackberries are practically dedicated email devices with a phone attached that aren't much good at documents. Treos are multi-use devices that handle emails almost as well as a Blackberry and can view and edit almost any kind of a document. Excell, Word, Adobe, a Treo can do it all. I looked for more than a year to upgrade my phone to the best option - I have a law firm - and Treo was what I settled on.

And it isn't a phone. Its a computer, which is what you want. It can use your phone to connect to teh internet, or it can use wifi. All sorts of good things about it...

I've been using a PDA for about the last 7-8 years for email and phone. I've had the original Blackberry and the second gen Blackberry ("Blueberry) and have had a Palm Treo 650 and currently have the 750. I've got an order in for a new Blackberry 8800 as I'm just tired of the 750. By their nature, these devices are a compromise, but the Treo doesn't reliably receive calls and is glitchy. I've used Adobe reader. It's just not practical for real time use. The screen is just too small to make it something that can effectively be used. So, just make sure you're expectations are in line with what a small device with a small screen can provide.

my plans for it is mainly for storage of service manuals, audio/security stuff, my photos etc....i'll never use it as a phone, and just require a way to transfer info to/from my computer.

Bell, if you just want to store manuals, phon numbers, photos, etc, perhaps consider just picking up a USB thumb drive. I haven't priced them out lately, but I'm sure you can get a 4 GB drive for probably ~$50.

I have the newest version of the Treo (without the big antenna) and I've found the reception to be excellent.

My HTC works all the programs too and offers added disc storage card, fyi.
