UTUBE and you (risky?)

I just started posting on UTUBE and really enjoy sharing videos with my Posse. A question came up the other day about rather or not postings could get a person into unexpected trouble. Many videos in the automotive categories demonstrate high speed, or marginal driving practices. That video of the 911 running from police at high speed through Stockholm is a excellent example of what I mean. What are your opinions about the possible to a poster? Anybody have actual legal knowledge about possible exposure for posting videos demonstrating "marginal" driving behaviors?

I doubt anyone is looking for that, murder on video etc. yes. Illegal driving umm techniques, doubtful.

BUT, you are providing the evidence if they do look.

Kinda like the teens that video taped them breaking into a new house, and destroying it. They were all arrested and charged.

I think it's possible... particularly if there's hard evidence (ie speedo shot).

I wonder if they ever caught the Lamborghini driver.

Recently in France , a golf R32 driver's has discovered that it was risky posting on Youtube.....a bit later , a policeman saw the video and recognized the place where it was....and has finally identified the conductor.

For the small history , the driver of the Golf has tooken a good defensor and has won because nothing proved that really was himself who was driving this day....

So we have the guy in France, the guy in the gold lambo, and year ago, there was a guy in Japan who filmed himself doing around 200 in an F40 who also got in a bunch of trouble.

If you want to convict yourself, go for it. Not worth it to be an e-baller.

Or better yet, don't be a dumbass on public roads.

That is the question isn't it? In most US states traffic violations must be committed in the presence of the officer issuing any citation. The exception being that which is ruled "criminal" . Prosecution would hinge (I assume) on provability of all the facts including time and place as well as positive ID of a driver. That Lambo was way up the criminal latter and was, perhaps, just as foolish to post.
All this to point out the original question "is it risky?" The common sense answer is "probably, depending on just how risky your posting actually is. Best to be safe on UTUBE and on the road.

What's scary is that anything you put on the internet can be seen by anyone who might use it to make decisions that may affect you. I'm pretty careful about how much I'll delve into certain subjects, because I'm not comfortable with the feeling that somebody might take something I say the wrong way.

Why would you ever want to broadcast to the world that you've broken a law???? (...unless you have a guilty conscious and really want to be caught.) To put it differently, don't put anything on the internet that you wouldn't want on the front page of your local paper. It's pretty much the same thing.

Unfortunately I also think a lot of it has to do with how popular the video gets. The most famous case of this was the aforementioned 200+mph footage of the Japanese owner in his Ferrari F40. Once that video was posted, it became a viral sensation, sweeping the world and getting picked up on television shows, etc. He had a picture-in-picture feature of the speedometer, too.

He got HAMMERED for that. I forget now what the punishment was, but they made an example out of him. Raided his house and stuff.

Somehow, I don't think you're going to suffer the same fate. The web is packed with homemade "top speed" videos that are far worse than yours. I wouldn't sweat it.

Not 100% sure why this thread was moved but "no biggie". I posted a while back asking the moderators to address the new trend of in-car videos on UTUBE with perhaps a specific video section here on Pelican. Never got an answer from them. This post was new but another I see here is asking for your video postings or those you want to share. "RANDOM VIDEO THREAD" That thread alone has some 70+ pages. With rules/restrictions and warnings about video postings they should be safe, interesting and fun.
All to seek your input as to the value of a designated Porsche/BMW (only) video posting section. Oh well, maybe someday....
