Royal Flush-ed out of the War
LONDON - Prince Harry has been serving on the front line in Afghanistan with the British Army, calling in airstrikes on Taliban positions and going out on foot patrols, the Ministry of Defense announced Thursday.
_______________________________ What I find interesting about this story (if true) is that British news agencies knew the Prince had been there since December and agreed to keep quiet about it? Had this been a U.S. President's son or daughter I'm certain CNN, CBS, ABC, et al, would have all accompanied them to the front line, reporting LIVE as they went! I heard that M. Drudge (the U.S. blogger) broke the story and now the Prince is (or will be) pulled back home for security reasons. In this day and age of 24-7 news channels and internet 'news wannabes' is the U.S.A. capable of keeping ANY secrets?

that is because the American media does not give rat's ass about America or Americans
This could have happened in the US, 70 years ago.

I'm kinda pissed at Drudge for breaking this story.
This kid wanted to serve his country, and the only way for that to be possible was that his whereabouts remained unknown so that his fellow soldiers were not in greater danger. Let the kid be.

All of the UK news organizations and many here in the US held back so that this soldier and his group would not be in danger, but frigging Matt Drudge, trying for more publicity, decided to put it on the internet. This is right up there with the NYT and other news organizations about disclosing military information that should not have been aired.

Agree with Joe. The kid puts his own butt on the line, more for our American interests than his own country's. And how does an American source thank him? By compromising his safety and commitment, and those of his comrades, as well. I understand the concept of freedom of the press. I also understand the concept of doing something for the greater good. Drudge--very un-American stunt pulled there. Idiot.

They don't want to cover the story. They want to BE the story. It is all about them..

The first stories I heard about this mentioned two European newspapers that leaked the story, followed by Drudge, who reported on it after it already leaked. Now, they only mention Drudge. Something fishy here.

It took a grandstanding American jerk to leak it to put everyone in danger... again.

Just sent them an e-mail also. It's "drudge@drudgereport.com". I seriously doubt anyone will actually read it, but if enough of us send mails expressing our disdain for this tactic, maybe it'll get through.
I made it very clear that they had lost all journalistic credibility with me and I would no longer be reading their material as I no longer considered them a journalistic source with integrity.
