Did you tell him that a Dude works on a ranch:p

Early 30s, he wasn't worth the time to educate.

I went to a P-car dealer's autocross a few weeks ago. When I pulled up in a full race 914 with a big ass wing I knew I would get some comments from the new "owners", I mean leasers. People had no idea about my car.
This is a big reason why the local PCA region here has gone down hill, these clown pay money not own own a car:eek:

You have significantly more self control than I do.
No, I'm sure that I don't, but just wasn't in the mood, I hadn't been feeling well lately and am trying to stay out of trouble.

yeah I was wearing a 911S shirt one day and driving my mini van and some ahole Boxster driver was at the pump at the same time. He asked me if I had the car or only the shirt with an " I know the answer to the question from a mini van driver" look on his face. I politely said " I have both". I got a lot more respect when I he asked what model I had. God I miss that car!~
My old doctor said that to me my first visit, turned out he was a 914 guy:D

Most new Porsche buyers are looking for image and the 'F-U factor
You mean Leasers and yes, god it kills them to find out that I could have a newer car but don't & that some of my older cars are worth more than there few year old lease cars:p
Not as bad in the mid 70s as when the 356 fased out and thee 911 came in, and although the 914s were looked down on, they kicked a$$ at the track from pretty much day one, and still do:cool: 924/944 owners got the same treatment, but again, when they evolved, they became great cars, the fact that the SCs were bullet proof with better low end torque kept Carrera owners on their toes.

Was on my way back from DC and found the following sticker for her new ride. :D
Here's a pic of it installed on the pop-up spoiler...

I answered "You first."

Then I hear girlfriend/sister whoever in the pax seat start laughing. Kid never filled up, just hopped back in and drove off.

Similar instance with a boxster owner, friendlier tho - he started smacking on my car and how his boxster could outperform mine. Told him that the Boxster had taken the title away from the VW Cabriolet.

"What title?" he asks.

"Catholic high school girls car" I answer.

He smiled, walked off. Didn't say anything else. Though he did wave when he drove off.

LOLOLOL, those are great. I'll have to remember them for further use.

Aerkuld and I were chatting with the guy about his Boxter S, when he asks which one is mine. I point at my 944S sitting near by.
His reply, an RX-7??? :D:D:D

We will park them side by side next Nov and show him the subtle difference. ;)

Well, hey, I've got them all - air and water cooled - and I look at any Porsche that comes my way no matter which one I'm in at the time, so not all water cooled owners are clueless wankers. ;) I even had a guy in a beautiful red 356 cab pull up alongside me at a stoplight, look at my red 996, smile and say "hey, nice color...and nice car too!" I smiled and said back to him, "likewise! Love you car!". He smiled and made his right turn and I felt good that a 356 owner actually acknowledged a (gasp) water cooled car. He was a TRUE Porsche enthusiast in my eyes. :D

Hugh R 03-08-2008 05:44 PM

When he said "You wish you owned a Porsche" did he pronounce it correctly? If not you should have said "It's Por Shaw, you douche bag and as a matter of fact, I own a bunch of them.

Wickd89 03-08-2008 05:52 PM

Boxster drivers never look over, never wave, and just focused on themselves.
Can't say they are arrogant, I just think their not "car guys" who would appreciate anything on 2 or 4 wheels....

It reminds of this time I was waiting in line to get into a club in Boston, for a punk rock show. A local cop was eating a slice of pizza and shooting the **** with the doorman. Some wise-ass kid in front of us says to the cop "I bet you wish that was a doughnut!"

Without missing a beat, the cop looked at the kid (who was smoking a cigarette) and said of the cigarette, "I bet you wish THAT was a cock."

I would have had a hard time not whittling that ****er with the boxster down to size.

pwd72s 03-08-2008 06:22 PM

Hey? They sign the lease...that makes them cool...

You mean that in the chicken sense right?
I have a customer that bought a Boxster last year. Great guy, nice car. I just can't bring myself to tell him it's a girls car. ;)

When I flash my 930 lights to the 98X crowd around here, they lock the doors and speed up!

Lose the hat. Problem solved.

Ever met a Boxster owner you'd have a beer with? Neither have I.

'cause they don't drink beer.

Victor 03-09-2008 04:33 AM

.........good point.

I bet "See My Box" up there enjoys a good spritzer though.

sand_man 03-09-2008 05:11 AM

This is a generalization, I know, and I've probably told this story a time or two, but it was a group of Boxster owners that caused me to take a step back from my local PCA chapter.

Was attending a local "koffee klatch" gathering and a group of Boxster owners were all debating what color hood crest looks better: silver or original, and what shift knob and pedal covers look best...*****y non mechanical speak, in other words. No biggie, I just nodded my head and chuckled inside. Said nothing. Then the guys started making their rounds to check out the other cars. When they approached one of the most meticulously restored 356 SC coupes I've ever seen. You could perform open heart surgery on this thing. One of them says, "that's the slow crappy car that VW made for Porsh". Other guy says, "huh, I always thought that was a VW, now I know". :(:rolleyes:

I got in my car and left...that was that.

You know, perhaps you should have stuck around and talked to them a little bit. You could have given them a little history about Porsche, started them thinking about what came before their interest in the cars developed. We were all clueless idiots once.

Perhaps. However, I was put off by their tone, in general. From their perspective, it was just an old, stupid little car, not worth a second glance. I guess where I mean to be coming from is that I wasn't in the presence of "car guys", on THAT day. No biggie. Different strokes.

When you're ordering either a basic double espresso or the house blend served black (please), and the others are ordering a Tall-Skinny-Mochacino- triple froth-with a shake of nutmeg-cinnamon-and babies breath, I should have known I was in the wrong place.

To be honest, I don't even mean to knock the Boxster, the one I drove handled like a miracle, just the company that some of these cars attract.

Excellent point... it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

On an interesting note I was motoring home from work yesterday and I see two 356's on the harbor freeway... and these guys are cruising along at 75 mph! So I rev the old Hyundai up to 80 to get a look... first one is a nice silver SC with chrome bumpers... he peels off to Long Beach and I follow the second one into San Pedro... nice silver 1600 with the old style painted bumpers... he pulled into the marina, bet he lives on a boat.

At first I thought they were together but maybe not... weird.

livi 03-09-2008 08:53 AM

Chances are this twat pronounced his car 'Poooorschhhh' while desperately trying to locate the engine under the front lid.
