This year I pay less than zero taxes

Yep, you "rich" guys are footing my whole tab and slipping me some walking around money(the rebate checks). I always thought of myself as middle class, I guess I'm poor???

Anyway, thanks guys.

+1 to the thank you.

Funny, I get another $1200 back, yet I still think it's a stupid idea.

Exactly, that's my point....it's dumb as hell. They are slowly removing more and more people from the tax roles and we know what happens when people no longer have a vested interest.

Capital flight en mass is not to far off.

Perhaps the "no taxation without representation should be augmented with "no representation without taxation"?

I view dealing with the IRS as a game. They try to get as much as possible and I try to keep as much as possible. I am using every legitimate tax dodge I can find.

But.....but.......now I can afford a plasma TV! Or 20" rims! I'm entitled to these things, they're in the Constitution!

Kurt, I agree with that. Hell, my wife is an accountant, we better not ever have to pay in. But this is like being given someone else's money, and I know damn well that it's just stupidity from an economic point of view.

Silly boy. Everyone knows that if you're not rollin' on at least 24s now you're so "last year".

But we'll cut you some slack, being in the midwest and all. . . You guys just aren't as hip as us.

Now here's a forward thinker, my terms are 2% 10, Net 30. Just shoot me a PO and we'll get the invoice out shortly

Yup, seems really stupid.

I got a letter from the IRS informing me I was getting a rebate too. With the 2 kids I get $1800 and its going straight into savings. Checked around the office, everyone that is getting a check and they are all putting it away in savings.

This is got to be one of the most idiotic things I have ever seen.

I am sure there are a lot of people that will run out and spend it. The idiots on a local car forum in Florida I frequent are buying drugs and car parts with theirs.

LOL! US Government is indirectly buying drugs.

Wow. And so......you aren't aware of the economic benefits of a citizenry that saves. As opposed to one that borrows? And if they spend it, you don't think that carries an economic benefit? Perhaps you don't think that peoples' personal accounts are the best place for this money? Jim Cesiro prefers that peoples' wealth be transferred to the gubmit?

Or does it just SOUND like this because you're still whining, even though the program moves in the direction you prefer?

How would the IRS already know if you are getting a rebate?

Did you file your taxes really early this year?

I agree the stimulus package is dumb. But for it to at least have a chance to work, we should spend it, no?

Supe, you'll find me a true conservative. You and I wouldn't agree on many policy issues but I think we would find we could do business with each other if we were oposing parties in a government. Or just in a policy debate.

If I had my way the government would always run a slight surplus because I think paying interest is an anathama and doing it on the public dime is inexcusable. In my world interest on savings would be tax free up to a certain amount and interest deductions would be few and far between. I'm not one to complain because government spending policies are too much until they are redirected to my benefit. I wish there was less indiscriminate government spending, more thoughtful investments in the future, and I don't care if the spending hits me or not. I also wish more people cared more about the government cutting spending, and less, as you put it, who complain because that spending isn't being directed into their pocket.
