Talking Wife asleep. Me bored. Got out the lube and rubbed one out. My bad?

Looks like a nice day tomorrow so I am thinking I will do a full detail on the car. Since the wife was already asleep, I figured I would get a head-start. Got out the vaseline and started into it. I will get the other 3 wheels tomorrow.

My 'date' for the night.

The 'lube'

Mmmmm .. anticipation

Let the rubbin begin!

I need to clean up this mess!

All done. I feel sleepy now.

The reverse five finger grip will give more control for future reference ;-)

Make sure to Armor All the tires - treads and all. I understand it makes all the difference.

I was wondering why you needed lube. I mean, a roll of paper towels and a Playboy issue should suffice.

Actually, the other 3 wheels will go easier if I let the car sit outside to warm up a bit.

The vaseline goes on better when the wheels are warm and you don't have to let them set for as long for the jelly to do its thing. I let this wheel percolate for about 2 hours before I cleaned it up.

Not to sound stupid but what is the point of the vaseline on the wheel?

Vaseline is the Porsche recommended polish for Fuchs wheels. I will look up the page number from the owner's manual tomorrow.

Are the pages in your owner's manual stuck together?

I don't get it. Wouldn't every bug, leaf and bit of road dust just stick to your wheels. I guess its a surface oxidation thing with the aluminum. I think most aluminum polishes like Mother's for example, have some waxy or light petroleum compound that protects the metal.
