Leno says he doesn't think TopGear will work.

Some good stuff about keeping business and pleasure separate.

All of what he says is true. That is what I am hoping people will understand about it. This will not be the BBC version of Top Gear, it will be an American version. It will almost certainly not be as good as the original. However, and this is the important part.....it still has the opportunity to be a good show. Not as good as the original, but still good. And given the current state of car shows in the US, it could be pretty bad, and still be one of the best.

Site unavilable due to heavy traffic. I'll try later.

However, I agree with grprsch. Unless they are able to create the friendly banter between the hosts that Top Gear has (doubtful), the USA version will not be anywhere near the same. Also, I seriously doubt they are allowed to take the PC be damned approach of the Brit show. But, it won't take much for it to be the best car show on American TV.

Go to his site. If you own millions of dollars of cars please learn how to pronounce Bertone, Porsche, Le Mans. I'm not a big fan of Leno.

+1

Run in to him dozens of times and he always treats
EVERYONE with tons of respect!

One time, at a French car show in Van Nuys, he brought a Monterey Concourse level Bugati and shared the war with everyone. When I said share, I mean he let kids touch it and take pics with it, and it did not phase him one bit.

Another time, he broke down in El Segundo, and a small crowd gathered. He was decent to everyone while he waited for his mechanic to arrive to get it running....

Another time, at a Beverly Hills Car show, a bunch of bikers started chatting with him and he was so cool to them. He did not know them, but he recognized him as fellow bikers. Could have just as easily said "lets go for a beer and talk bikes...."

If you just judge the man by his show, you might be missing a decent fella..

Anyone know when the next season of Top Gear will start in the UK?

Cheers,

Paul.
