The Pool is open!!
Perfect Sunday...
Woke up at 8 to watch the F1 race on Tivo while it was recording skipping the commercials. Great race and almost caught up to to the recording by the end of the race, no commercials. Taught my son how to do a brake job on my RX7: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/CIMG3385.jpg He just bought a E30 from RickV and we will be going to town on it with maintenance. Since I had to do a brake pad change and bleed I figured he could learn a little something. Then I mowed the lawn and vacuumed the pool, when I reached in the pool to hook up the vacuum I was surprised to feel the water was warmer than expected. I checked the temp and it was 86°. :D I finished up the vacuum job and jumped in. The 4 y/o was quick to jump in too. Italian Sausage and peppers on the grill some Bahamian Kalik beer and it was a good day. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/CIMG3391.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/CIMG3392.jpg RickV and my son Mike when we picked up his E30 (thanks again Rick and Beth!!) : http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/CIMG3280.jpg |
Jim:
Cool! First spring-like weekend here- mowed the lawn, stuff like that. Still running the FJ though- not really targa weather quite yet! Cheers, Paul. |
Jim, where's the picture of the grill going full tilt?
BTW it was a whopping 60 here today and breezy and cold. (Did I mention it was cold) |
Duke,
We were there last week, I was surprised how chilly it was I hope it gets better for the weekend. Although highs in the 60's will be good to me since I do not have a/c. ;) See you in a few days. |
Yeah, it was like summer here too. It was so warm we had rain instead of snow with temps fully above freezing with precipitation all day for the first time since about last November. At this rate the ice on my lake will be melted by, oh, early May, and we can get the boat and dock in before Mother's day.

Jim, have you son wear some shoes next time he uses a ball peen hammer.
Safety First. |
Paul.
RX7 front brakes are probably the easiest to change. I use the claw on the hammer to spread the pistons out before we yank the old pads out all the way. Then the new pads slide in real easy. Then its 2 small rods and a retaining clip an the job is done, I can change out the front pads in about 30 seconds on that car. So the hammer was used to spread the pads not hammer on anything. I was barefoot too. ;) |
Got the son an e30, very cool. I know all the ins and outs of those bad boys. If you have any questions let me know.
|
So you never dropped a hammer on your toe?
I point out a obvious safety concern and I get blown off. OK, forget it. |

Any tricks or tips for removing the windshield wiper motor? This one appears to be done: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y21...3/CIMG3383.jpg I am so impressed with this car I am considering replacing my Audi with a E30 as well. |

**the more I thought about this I just have to say wow!!** I was not blowing off your "safety concern" I just do not see it as such a concern as you do. He could have easily dropped ANYTHING in the house on his toe with the same result. edit LOL! Yeah I have and it hurt, and from then on your careful. He needs to learn too. I have also dropped a beer can on my toe should I wear steel toed boots when I drink? :D I was more mad at myself for not breaking out the jack stands because I was lazy. |
Without looking to see where you live, I knew you live in FL when I saw the cage around your pool.
Brother used to live there... |

Florida law doesn't require a full cage but the Florida bugs do.
|
What is your water temp, and are you heating in anyway?
|
ours is 78 degrees right now - no cage. and no heating -
|
We hit 79 today in the water. I have a gas heater, but it cost $$$ to run. The only thing I'm doing is using a pool cover. I'm hoping to get it to 80 by this time next week. I have friends from Upstate NY coming, and 80 degree water is beautiful!
