Holy Crap! You're a doc, Moses...what's the medical explanation for how that works?

JA

There is no injury to the brain during decapitation. When the brain is deprived of oxygen consciousness recedes slowly.

Is there pain or does the severing of the spinal column and associated nerves make the process somewhat painless?

The whole thing about the guillotine was that it was supposedly a humane, if not disturbing way of efficiently killing people.

I know what my last two words would be and I bet it would be easy for them to figure out, F and Y

I think you'd only be able to mouth them - no way to vocalize at that point. I agree with the word choice though.

Definitely. And some folks are very sensitive to low blood pressure. Others can tolerate extremely low pressures and still remain conscious.

That is effing creepy. You shouldn't wear watches, rings gloves or even long sleeved shirts when using those babies.

My old man worked in the Santa Fe locomotive shops in the late 30's. Saw a guy lose a finger to a wedding ring and part of hand/wrist due to a watch. He never wore same - even at a desk job.

In high school, I saw a guy strip the flesh from his ring finger when he spiked a volleyball and his ring snagged the top of the net. The ring came off...
