The only thing that has been worse than his presidency is his post-presidency 'diplomacy'. Really, someone should chain him to his peanut farm and send his brother Billy overseas instead. |

Regardless of your view on Hamas or the Palestinian situation, Hamas by virtue of a legitimate democratic process that we all hold so dear and are prepared to go to war because of- IS legitimately elected. As such, its has to dealt with as such. Otherwise- what is democracy worth? Its a bastard. Joe- is there some matter of fact you would like to dispute in what Ive said? > > > > > > > > > I thought not. Just flapping those scurvied old gums again. Poor silly bastard. |

Stuart, Its not worth my time to dispute all the drivel and crap you have posted. Even your fellow countrymen in Oz feel you have "gone 'round the bend" so I will just leave it at that. BTW, you might look into the very first post in the OT section called "forum rules and guidelines." Calling someone names (like you just did calling me "bastard" above) is really not allowed and grounds for being banned for a time period. Not that you abide by any rules, but just thought I would point that out so that maybe someday the liberals on this forum will have to adhere to the same rules that us conservatives do. |

No, I didnt think you could find any matter of fact. As usual. But my goodness Joe, you are offended. I certainly do apologise. It is term of endearment where Im from, you see, to call someone a poor stupid bastard, and Joe, no one is more deserving of that singular, special compliment than you. Hands across the water, Joe. Lend lease. |
Carter gained in popularity, at least in Georgia (Atlanta) with his "Habitat for Humanity" campaign years after his presidency. He built a lot of houses for the poor before taking it a step further and heading off around the globe as the self-proclaimed profit of peace. Perhaps his guilt over the failure to get our American comrades released from Iran affected him for years. You know, they were all released the day Reagan took office, but then ex-president Carter met them all at Andrews AFB when they arrived in the states in a proud but embarassing way. He stood outside the plane on the tarmac like a Disney tour guide awaiting and greeting the next bus load of visitors. Sort of a sad sight.
Carter is often running around Atlanta doing his book signings with his wife, staying in the political eye, and trying in his own righteous way to save the world and find peace. His efforts are in earnest, but I agree with most here that as an elder statesman and former President, its time to step back, get back to the peanut farm and write more memoirs. The state department can do so much to curb this guys endeavors; however, the secret service must be incredibly chalenged having to set the security up for these foreign trips, especially to the likes of Hamas. The Israelies, will write this one off, knowing nothing was accomplished by Carter and carry on. His actions certainly cannot be endorsed by the state department. Its funny.................My office is located on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Atlanta, GA. Imagine that?! Bob |
Carter was a disgrace and embarrassment in office and thirty years later...still is. Some things never change.

Hamas, weren't they the ones responsible for hiding the nukes from north Korea? You know, the ones that Israel blew up in the desert and both sides kept quiet about until it leaked out?
I thought so. Aren't they the same ones who lob rockets into the country of one of our very important allies on a daily basis, killing whoever might be walking or standing or sitting, and we should hug them? Nope, not me.It's one thing to maintain diplomatic relations and totally another to kiss their butts and give them warm hugs and handshakes. Playing hard ball is the way to handle these criminals, not trying to be their best buddy. Carter is an embarassment to our country and an insult to our allies and he needs to be locked up in an old folks home so he can't do any more harm. Either that or send him back to hang out with Hugo Chavez and make his stay there, they are two peas in a pod. |

Hamas is a terrorist organization, the political election was to further these ends. Good bye and good luck to you Stuart, you must be a very angry, lonely man, I hope things get better for you. |
Stuart, did it ever occur to you that the Palestinean elections MIGHT not be on the up and up? Terrorists aren't exactly known for their honesty and integrity.
A. Vote for Hamas B. Kill me and my entire family |
Matt,
Come-on here. Yassir Arafat was a pilar of truth in their society... Everyone knows that! :) |

"Hamas is a terrorist organization, the political election was to further these ends." Thats simply silly. Hamas uses terrorism to further its political ends. I see a number of parallels with the IRA actually. Things are fine, thanks for asking. Odd that the statement of the FACT that Hamas are a demcratically elected political entity in Palestine, legitimised by the very process we all hold so dear, would provoke this sort of silly personal reaction from from an otherwise intelligent poster. Ah well. |

How many terrorists do you know to comment on their honesty and integrity? The British regard the people who fought your War of Independence against them as terrorists. One mans terrorist....... |

"DAMASCUS, Syria - The leader of Hamas said Monday that his Palestinian militant group would offer Israel a 10-year "hudna," or truce, as implicit proof of recognition of Israel if it withdrew from all lands it seized in the 1967 Middle East War. Khaled Mashaal told The Associated Press that he made the offer to former U.S. President Jimmy Carter in talks on Saturday. "We have offered a truce if Israel withdraws to the 1967 borders, a truce of 10 years as a proof of recognition," Mashaal said. In his comments Monday, Mashaal used the Arabic word "hudna," meaning truce, which is more concrete than "tahdiya" — a period of calm — which Hamas often uses to describe a simple cease-fire.............." At least he's trying to accomplish something. |
If you mean Mr Carter is trying to accomplish something, is that by itself a positive thing? I would say no, given his history, particularly his history of being anti-semitic. Just because he is an American, does not mean he has the interests of America as his driving force, or even in mind, when he is doing his free lance bit.

I would say that working towards a peaceful solution in that part of the world is a positive thing. I don't think it will happen under the current Admin because we don't talk to our enemies.

You must have a real probelm with Israel. What drivel? All Ive stated is that Hamas is a democratically elected entity and that they hold a majority of seats in the Palestinian Authority, and that as such, they now must be dealt with as such. If you regard this as nutcase liberal troll drivel, I can only wonder about your ability to process information. |
