The solution to your problem, tell them that neither would win, because the Millenium Falcon would top both of those simple flying machines, because the Millenium Falcon has a 915 Porsche Transmission. Problem solved. Tony.SmileWavy

Imperial-class Star Destroyers are constructed by Kuat Drive Yards and hold a distinguished place in the Imperial Navy, symbolizing the Empire's military might with a peak number of more than 25,000 vessels.[3] Like the Victory-and Venator-class ships that precede it, the Imperial Star Destroyer is most notable for its massive size and overwhelming firepower; a single Imperial-class ship is capable of overwhelming most starships or devastating a hostile planet, and its mere presence is often enough to deter rebellion.[3] At 1,600 meters long, Imperial-class Star Destroyers are armed with turbolasers, ion cannons and tractor beam projectors.[3] They carry 72 TIE fighters, numerous ground forces (including stormtroopers, AT-ATs, AT-STs and AT-PTs), a prefabricated base for rapid deployment to planetary surfaces and a variety of support and landing craft.[3]

So, who's got the baddest ship in the galaxy? I'm thinking Baylok could kick everyone's ass with his Fesarius.

There aren't even any modern weapons designed to penetrate the kind of armor that an Iowa has (up to 18" thick hardened armored steel plate in some areas), nor to defeat it's massive internal compartmentalization. The russians have some missiles that were made with Iowa type targets in mind, but they're decades old now, they probably wouldn't even work. Modern anti-ship missiles are designed to take out the vessels of today, meaning guided missile cruisers and destroyers- which have extremely limited armor.

A modern cruiser would have it's way with an Iowa right up until it came time to sink it. Firing Harpoons or Exocets at an Iowa is akin to shooting at an elephant with a .38 special.

LOL. ;)

Well let's see, Yamato and Musashi with 25 inch armor got sunk by a couple of divebombers and torpedoes. In addition, the Iowa class has 17 inch armour and only to its sides. The turrets are only 17 in on the faces. Otherwise, 8in or less from the top (one of the reasons why some antitank missiles attack downwards. Oh a single Japanese torpedo sunk the North Carolina (which had essentially the same side armour as Iowa class). And Tico class carries >120 Tomahawks/ASROCs, plus 6 torpedos....

Before NUKE power, a cup of fuel oil in the water system, could put a destroyer or maybe even a battleship out of service. So say a lot of days gone by sailors. I guess that could be true, because that was before the desalination water systems, or the newer water recovery process systems.

I guess its all relative to where the ship gets hit. Look how fast the Bismark dispatched the Hood. Then look how much of a beating the Bismark took took before she sank or was scuttled.

Cylon base ship. No contest.

'62 Dodge Dart or Ford Maverick? You decide.

Jim Richards 04-22-2008 07:41 AM

Easy. Dodge Dart. The Maverick is a POS.
