jackson browne acoustik
wow went and saw him in the intimate confines of the mesa civic center last night. sold out show and we had 16th row dead center. what a show! last saw him at celebrity theatre here my senior year in high school which was 3 billion years ago in 1975. dinosaurs were still roaming then.
had 14 gibson guitars and a piano nothing else and he was taking requests from the audience all night. really the guy has lost nothing since i last saw him. jumped down the throat of some idiots taking his picture with their cell phones right off the bat. kind of set a damper on things for abit and then he let it rip. would go back tonight and see him again. started at 730pm took a 15 minute break and then played til about 1020pm. killer sound killer show. |

He makes very good music, but his extreme liberal political view and tree-hugging enviro-wacko stance are enough to keep me away.
Last thing I want to hear at a concert is some clown on stage lecturing me on how I'm killing mother earth. Does he still do that or has he grown up? |

I'm going to see him Sunday at The Fox Theater in Bakersfield. Glad to hear it was a good show, sounds perfect for a small venue. I've got tickets to see Vince Gill there in October on his acoustic tour.
Going to see Mudcrutch (Tom Petty and some Heartbreakers) at The Troubador on 4/ 29, and Peter Case and my friend Lanny Ray at a Garden Party 5/4.

Because he's a closet Republican capitalist pig - he knows the value of his picture, and ain't giving it away for free! Gotta protect the franchise.

funny i just got back to this. read up on him. very interesting life. military brat, was writing songs at 16 etc. 1st wife suicide, 2nd wife divorce. 2 kids, darryl hannah crap and now been living with gal for 10 years.
very very very private individual. websites kind of obscur about his interests etc. the darryl hannah thing i guess never went to an arrest but close from what i can read. the joni mitchell thing is a huge question on what happened. guess hes like alot of us....................fell for the wrong woman! been there done that, it sucks! but he sho can play GITAR and PIANO! |

My dad and I ran into him at the Chevron on Sunset at PCH..
He was trying to figure out how to work the pump with very little luck. So my dad goes over and show him how to work it. He then looks at him and goes, "Yeah, life sure is a ***** when you're running on empty.." He was not amused. We laughed. |

Im going to rent myself a house
In the shade of the freeway Im going to pack my lunch in the morning And go to work each day And when the evening rolls around Ill go on home and lay my body down And when the morning light comes streaming in Ill get up and do it again Amen Say it again Amen I want to know what became of the changes We waited for love to bring Were they only the fitful dreams Of some greater awakening Ive been aware of the time going by They say in the end its the wink of an eye And when the morning light comes streaming in Youll get up and do it again Amen Caught between the longing for love And the struggle for the legal tender Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring And the junk man pounds his fender Where the veterans dream of the fight Fast asleep at the traffic light And the children solemnly wait For the ice cream vendor Out into the cool of the evening Strolls the pretender He knows that all his hopes and dreams Begin and end there Ah the laughter of the lovers As they run through the night Leaving nothing for the others But to choose off and fight And tear at the world with all their might While the ships bearing their dreams Sail out of sight Im going to find myself a girl Who can show me what laughter means And well fill in the missing colors In each others paint-by-number dreams And then well put out dark glasses on And well make love until our strength is gone And when the morning light comes streaming in Well get up and do it again Get it up again Im going to be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender And believe in whatever may lie In those things that money can buy Thought true love could have been a contender Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender Who started out so young and strong Only to surrender

just received the acoustic vol 1 and vol 2 cd's from g/friend. some great music in the raw. i would venture a solid guess he has made some serious bucks during his career just by looking at his discography and collaborations with others. i dont think he really needs to play anymore for bucks. i think hes playing now for enjoyment and avoids some of the songs that hurt him and plays really what he feels when asked by an audience member as was the case here in phx. people were blurting out songs as he was sitting down to piano and he would say ok and get up and pick up one of his gitars and start shooting the breeze about the songs meaning, whom it was writtian for or how old he was when he wrote it or where he was when he wrote it.
then someone would blurt out a song while on gitar and back to piano he would go. it got kind of funny and the crowd was digging it. stand up ovation and one encore and he was gone into the night. the guy is talented and his voice has not faltered abit over the years. would love to play drums for him..........that would be my life dream come true! |

I guess I've mellowed. As a youth i liked his music very much and then rejected him for his political/environmental leanings. Now I think a lot of what he says is in line with what should be. I still think nukes are a very viable energy source. I respect his position on old growth forests, after all there are only about 1% of what was around 200 years ago that are now left. I also think the groups like the nature Conservancy should buy them. Air pollution in El Aye is so much better than it was 30 years ago when I moved here. And much, much better than it was 50 years ago. I used to work for the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the regional air pollution control agency, so I can state this as fact.

Saw him last night at The Fox Theater in Bakersfield (great acoustics) and it was quite a show. The guys voice is still as clear and fresh as it was in the '70s. Did a great acoustic version of "In the Shape of a Heart" and slide version of "Your Bright Baby Blues". Didn't get political except for a few revised lines from his "post rehab" version of "Cocaine".
A great concert to see if you get a chance.
