I am quite sure that RPKESQ would never say this to Snowman's face.
For eons religions and religious authorities commanded respect without question. It was “believe or else!” Anyone who questioned religious authorities was a heretic.

For ages, this was important tool for controlling the masses. Governments and laws as we know them didn’t exist and this tool was largely responsible for keeping societies together. Those who believed had more coherent societies, thus, the personality traits for believing got passed on to future generations preferentially over those who did not have such traits. As such, belief in religion became a “survival advantage,” in the true evolutionary sense.

Now that we have governments and laws, we no longer need an unquestioned religious authority to control the masses. It’s time to start questioning them. If they say “the bible is 100% true,” should we just say “well, ok” or should we say “prove it?”

We need to question those who think religious texts are factual. Sure, there are some historical facts present, that’s not what I’m talking about.

David Koresh claimed to be Jesus, returned to Earth. Let me edit RPKESQ’s quote to this situation: “People who believe in David Koresh’s claim as factual are factually stupid by definition.”

Do you have a problem with that statement?

What about the other wacky claims religions make? “People who believe in Xenu, the galactic warrior, as factual are factually stupid by definition.”

“People who believe that polygamy gains you status in heaven as factual are factually stupid by definition.”

RPKESQ quote was about religious texts. Let’s see how this applies to other texts:

“People who believe in The Wizard of Oz as factual are factually stupid by definition.”

Perhaps RPKESQ could have used a better word than stupid, one less insulting or inflammatory; or perhaps he could have phrased it differently, but such is the nature of internet discussion boards.

Like most atheists, I have an issue with those who believe the bible as factual. They believe this despite evidence to the contrary. To me, I wouldn’t call them stupid, though. I just claim that they are letting their emotion that god is real or the bible is factual override common sense and logic. They’re not thinking with their brains, that’s for sure. They are emoting, not thinking. This needs to be pointed out to them. I’ll do it my way, and RPKESQ will do it his.

Those who believe religious texts as factual need to be questioned, and questioned strongly.

You can't. That makes the Seventh day longer than 24 hours by over 6,000 years and counting.
If that's the case, the other 6 days are not bound by a 24 hour man's day either.

( this may very well be the forth time I've posted this )

This seems to be your 'go to' phrase.
The big problem is the supposed 'evidence'.
There is none that leads to hard and fast undisputable claims...Is there?

If there is, no one seems willing to post that.
We get the theories, guesses, etc., instead. I wonder why that is?
Insults aren't evidence, folks. I know, it's what you've been taught. Sorry.

So much for those 'mountains of evidence', huh?

Blogs and wikis are slowly being accepted in academia as "publications" that can count for tenure (depending on the details). Of course I was arguing for this before 2000 but never mind that...

Unfortunately "blogs" and "wikis" are too casually lumped into a single mass based upon "popular" sentiment by many folks.

It's kind of like saying all books are "x" and fit into some general category of credibility.

books don't mean anything. They are just a bunch of words strung together. Purple monkey dishwasher.

I was vague. Prove that creation happened as detailed in Genesis. Links to supporting evidence (non-biblical) are encouraged.

No, that's not an argument. You have to show that the 7th day has not ended. if you are claiming that the 7th day has not ended, you must show why you believe that.

Will wait for you.

Trek, we've posted the evidence before and you claimed it was guesses or refused to even read it. If you're not willing to even consider the evidence why even tease us?

You seem completely unwilling to accept science's evidence for it's claims while at the same time accepting without question your beliefs with no evidence at all. I cannot reconcile that in my mind. How do you do that?

Your MO seems to be stating things as though they are facts with nothing to back up your statements.

Here's an example:
When I say the days of Genesis are 24 hours in length, I back up that assertion with the original Hebrew text proving my supposition.

Please do the same when saying that the 7th day has not ended.

My purple monkey dishwasher didn't even come with a damn book.

If it had, it might have told me what to feed it and it wouldn't have died three weeks after I got it.

It was a clever little animal; was even able to speak a a bit of broken English.

But not enough to tell me NOT to feed it bananas.

It died a miserable death from anananitus (the inability to stop spelling banana).

I wrote to the company I bought it from.

They replied with a bunch of Chinese characters strung together.

The ADL speaks on "Expelled":

Quote:
Anti-Evolution Film Misappropriates the Holocaust

New York, NY, April 29, 2008 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today issued the following statement regarding the controversial film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.

Quote:
The film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed misappropriates the Holocaust and its imagery as a part of its political effort to discredit the scientific community which rejects so-called intelligent design theory.

Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people and Darwin and evolutionary theory cannot explain Hitler's genocidal madness.

Using the Holocaust in order to tarnish those who promote the theory of evolution is outrageous and trivializes the complex factors that led to the mass extermination of European Jewry.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world's leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.

junk science is rarely used to fuel a political agenda and move the masses.
