What are you going to upgrade to? XP or what? Can understand the upgrade out of W2000 and sure would not run Vista either so assuming that XP is your target OS?

I did the same thing you are talking about a while ago on all of my home computers and it works very well. Made a "mirror image" hard drive of my "C" drive for all my computers and put them away in the office closet. When or if something happens you can just slide another drive that has been sitting ready to go back in any of the servers and have very minimal downtime.

Good project and glad to see Pelican looking towards the future! If I was younger would take the summer off and come help!
