So the libs here support the reverend's remarks...

...while a certain Mr. Obama has other views...

....and for God's sakes don't go off into that "perspective" BS again.

There ya go again thinking there is only one reality. On bizzaro world things are much different ;)

Mule 04-29-2008 01:43 PM

What happened to "he's like a crazy old uncle?"

lendaddy 04-29-2008 01:46 PM

Indeed, that which you have not seen.......... does not exist. :)

Wait a minute, I thought he could no more disown Mr Wright than he could the entire black community, or his grandmother. He said this after this stuff came out.

So Mr Obama did not notice this stuff for 20 years, then all the sudden it is a problem when he catches flak for it. So will he divorce his wife when her positions and statements create more problems for him?

He's also wearing the flag lapel pin these days.

Your point is to discredit Obama for trying to distance himself from statements he didn't agree with while not throwing a long standing friend to the wolves? Obama has come out and said this in repsonse to the latest Wright comments:

Obama said his earlier mild reaction came because he gave him the benefit of the doubt, but that evaporated when he saw Wright's speech. Wright's comments may well have severed the relationship.

"He has done great damage, I do not see that relationship being the same," said Obama.

Clearly, Obama HAD some affection for the man and tried not to throw him comletely under the bus before. Now, Wright may have crawled under a bus himself.

Sooner or later Hillary's idiot brother, cousin, neighbor et al will become an issue for her and someone McCain knows, likes or is related to, sat on some board with, had his picture taken with, etc will become an issue for him too. Its all mud slinging. Let's try to find a reason to blame anything we are sensitive about on the candidate of our choice.

NAIL....HIT....ON....HEAD.

In any event I'll bet it's gonna be a masterpiece of ducking and weaving. And the MSM will top it with a even more stupendous act of fellatio. And after Bill Moyers that's saying something.

"Your point is to discredit Obama for trying to distance himself from statements he didn't agree with while not throwing a long standing friend to the wolves?"

No the point is Obama has heard and embraced these statements for over twenty years- when it suited his rise in the poor black community. And now that they are doing damage to his campaign he wants to disown them and the man who made them- his spiritual mentor and a member of his family.

Neither you or Barrack can have it both ways.

Bullschit.

Mark my words, the Rev. Wright is working on a new talk show and a book deal. Just wait.

nostatic 04-29-2008 06:06 PM

your thread title puts words in people's mouths. eg I never "supported" the guy's remarks. I simply stated that he might be speaking for a significant population and that their perception of America may in fact reflect his words.

More to the point, way back when I said this was clearly a lose/lose for BO. No matter *what* he did he would be criticized. If he didn't speak up against the Rev he was giving tacit approval. If he did speak up, he was throwing his long time advisor under the bus.

Politicians do this crap all the time. It is part and parcel of the job.

The bottom line is that one side will overlook the failing of their guy and pounce on the failings of the other guy. And vice versa. Pretty much anything can be spun one way or another. Just depends on which way you lean as to which you're willing to swallow.

legion 04-29-2008 06:12 PM

Wow.

I just watched his NAACP speech. Talk about racist.

If any white guy said the kinds of things he said about black people, Jesse and Al would be there, demanding resignation (and donations to go away). It would be the top story on every newscast for the next two weeks.

I especially reviled the part where he said:

"If you see your white friends in church, doing this..." [claps dramatically off-rhythm] "...Y'ALL!!!"

At least he has finally realized that there are a few voters around this country who still respect this flag. Someday others here on the PPOT will as well figure this out.

FLYGEEZER 04-29-2008 07:58 PM

Just like Bubbas cabinet, these democrats look & act like the people from the bar scene in Star Wars. The GOP is gonna trounce them hard come November!

Yep, that B. Hussien Obama is a real man of character and substance.

He's just the latest far left hack that the Dems have suicidally tied themselves too.

I will be stunned if he is elected in November, if he even makes it that far.

You both read the same thing. You get the obvious point and Dan refused to do so, hmm...

I guess that is why the Obama Love Fest thread did not get much play, no(well 1or2 did) libs had anything nice to say about Obamarama, go figure

Joe, I thought about our exchange of views (another thread) when I was up at VIR last Sunday for the Rolex race. While the national anthem played, I observed that a hush fell over the crowd as the strains drifted up to where we were standing at the time. EVERYONE became quiet, stood at attention, facing the general direction, but only a few placed their hands over their hearts, and another small percentage removed their caps. I felt VERY patriotic as I stood there amongst that crowd of patriotic Americans. I think we DO have it figured out...some just come at it from a different perspective. It was a beautiful thing :)

cairns 04-30-2008 08:18 AM

Nostatic I wasn't speaking of you but of the other remarks I saw. For instance:

"This is disappointing. Personal desire? What a perversion of one man's desire to share a message, an important message. A message no one wants to hear. his job, as a preacher, is to share a message. that's his job description."

As I think stated somewhere he isn't a preacher with an important message but a self serving race baiter spouting the usual divisive *****. And I don't believe for a minute that he espouses what the "average" black man thinks. I don't know how anyone could say that- unless they believed the "average" black man is a stupid racist.

Unfortunately for the Obama supporters Mr. Wright did expose Mr. Obama as the hypocrite he is. And, I think, seriously hurt him among the white blue collar democrats.

Are you talking to me?

My remarks were about one clip, the one in 2001 ending in "God D--- America".

Back in 2001 there were a lot of preachers saying we had it coming. Screw them. At least with Wright there was a build up with examples which put an interesting twist to it.

The other things Wright has said I never commented on, no other excuse than grandstanding to get a reaction out of people and play off of their fears.

Wright is out of touch with mainstream thoughts and out of touch with Obama's message and platform. The more distance between Wright and Obama the better.

At least this should end the silly talk of Obama taking orders or direction from Wright. At least I hope so, but then again I'm a hopeful guy.
