Less brakes, more gas!

And the runner up to Leno is....
This guy:
http://forums.viperclub.org/driven/612751-crazy-car-collection-5.html I didn't see any early porsches, just a few new ones... Pesonally, I'd settle for a 4000 sq. ft garage ![]() Forgive me if this has been previously posted or shown to be fake. Best regards, Michael

There is a slant nose aircooled rig in there. They look like they are all on battery maintainers. Probably don't get the excercise they need.

It's great to see all these cars under one roof but on the other hand, it's sad to know that they mostly likely are not being used for their intended purpose.

I'm a loser, baby.

I have the exact same garage with a lot of the same cars. I have to turn on my Xbox 360 to drive them though.
Unbelievable.

I don't get any great thrill looking at that collection either. This guy has so much money he can satisfy every want he has, yet he apparently never gets satisfied.
At least when I look at pictures of the Schrumpf (sp?) museum in France, I can appreciate that the brothers had a goal in mind, plus they did a really good job showcasing their collection; this guy here just has a warehouse full of really nice cars, AFAIAC. Seems like it is just lacking something. (I bet is smells great in there, though) My 1988 stock Carrera mostly satisfies me (and in fact, the number or lack thereof of miles I put on it makes me sometimes feel like I am not owning it "properly" if there is such a thing, but I still love the car and lavish time and money on it as I am able.) Just my musings.

While I agree w/you completely, from what I remember reading, the Smurf bros didn't plan to showcase their collection from the get go. That kinda happened at some point. Maybe this guy will come around... I'd have more Porsches

I would have been happy just to fill the CTEK charger order since it looks like he keeps all his toys plugged in. Thanks for the link, fun to see other guys madness.

Pick 3, any 3. I'd be more than happy with 3, but I'd have to sample them all, of course, before making my choice.
![]() Then I would add 3 more classics like 50-60's Ferrari's. I fooled around with those 6 cyl Corvettes enough to know I'd never want one. |

Just unreal. It appears to be someone with more interest in classic american and new exotics. Great collection of american muscle and Corvettes, but lacking in classic european stuff. But you know, I'd be happy to take them off of his hands.

It's an impressive collection, even if it's not the exact same cars that I, (or any of you), would have. It has a little bit of the dreaded "Saudi prince" or "Saddam's sons" feel to it, where someone has an unlimited bank account and simply buys every expensive car that he ever reads about in a magazine or something. There are people in this world with so much $$ that they don't know how to spend it.
I was at a party a few weeks ago at the house of a well-known modern art collector in L.A., he had Warhols and Lichtensteins and Ed Rushas and this and that up the wing-wang. There was a coffee table book of his collection, (on his coffee table of course), A buddy of mine who is an artist was flipping through the book and asked the guy about a Larry Rivers painting in the book, guy said, "sold it." Oh. How 'bout this one? Where is it? "Got rid of it."The point of it is that the guy had some of the most valuable pieces and sets but probably had zero connection to any of it and certainly had no vision, he simply bought any and everything that was "hot" or expensive. Like the blind squirrel who finds a nut, or the right-winger who makes a salient point around here, , he buys plenty of great schit by accident. Or should I say, using his extremely flawed system. The art collector's motivation was to be a hot-shot in a town full of them and with no looks/talent/charm he was left with a huge bag of money and a need to be "cool". I've written before about the car collector that I worked for in HS in the '70s. He had about 10 Ferraris and it was a more impressive collection than this 2008 one, IMO. He shared a hidden, underground garage with 2 other collectors, one had the top classic car in the country at the time, (a Duesenburg SJ), along w/ a Pierce Arrow and a gaggle of V-12 and V-16 Cadillacs from the '20s and early '30s. The third guy had special interest cars like a 1960 triple-white Eldorado rag-top w/ factory tri-power and 1200 original miles that still had the clear plastic on the seats from factory. Those guys had a vision about what they liked.I think that Seinfeld is a great collector even though his collection is narrow, (Porsches), it reflects one man's obsession. Same w/ Reggie Jackson's, he was a great collector. |

i'd take a 166MM and a Dino 246S over that entire collection any time.

Of course I LOVE all the cars in there...even the few that were kinda hideous...that whored out silver Vette, just to name one.
I don't know, I don't think I ever want my car itch scratched that well, if you know what I mean? It might take a lot of the joy out of it. And for the record, I like Jay's collection a LOT better. More eclectic. At first I thought this guy had only one type of car - exotic sports car....and he kinda does...a few exceptions...that HHR (eek!). I would love to have Jay's bikes, his steamers, his big block Buick, etc.

Ralph Lauren's collection has Vision, both to the signifcance of almost all of the cars individually ( 8C Alfa, 250 GTO, RSK, Count Trossi SSK, Bug Atlantique, et al) and as a group. Cars of provenance and signifcance, and most that you couldn't buy tomorrow if you wanted to, unlike like a warehouse full of 612 Scags and Gallardos.
