Breaking news: Woman believed to be D.C. Madam commits suicide

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the 52-year-old woman known as the "D.C. Madam," is believed to have committed suicide at her mother's home in a trailer park in the Tampa area, Tarpon Springs Police told FOXNews.com.

Palfrey was found guilty on April 15 by a D.C. jury of racketeering and money laundering related to her operating a house of prostitution. Palfrey had threatened to reveal the names of her clients — many believed to be high-profile political and business figures — if prosecutors went forward with their case.

D.C. Madam apparently commits suicide in Tarpon Springs
Deborah Jean Palfrey, better known as the "D.C. Madam," apparently has committed suicide at her mother's Tarpon Springs home.

Tarpon Springs detectives said a body was found in a small storage shed on the west side of the mobile home. Handwritten notes were found that describe the victim's intention to take her life, and foul play does not appear to be involved.

Palfrey, 52, reportedly was staying with her mother Blanche at the Sun Valley Mobile Home Park, 167 Cypress Ave.

Detectives of the Tarpon Springs Police Department are working with Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Forensics Unit, Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office and the FBI.
