I flew those for years. Saved a few impossible situations- having the power to weight ratio of a model does help. That guy is one heck of a pilot- with more skillz than I ever had. Thanks for posting- it brought back some great memories.

Considering many R/C aircraft can essentially hover, that's not a real shocker. I wish the real ones had that kind of power to weight ratio.
Danny, Red Bull Air Race is about the coolest thing on TV. What I'd give to see one in person.

in the real world that is exactly what happened to chalk airlines grumman mallard seaplane above miami harbor with all aboard sadly lost.
this was attributed to "INTERGRANULAR CORROSION" of the aluminum wingspar. this due to high heat/humidity/salt air corrosion. it is invisible to the naked eye. something to think about when buying anything aluminum from a salt air environment. |
