1980 Porsche Indy car on Ebay.
It's tempting to sell my VPJ3 car to get this, but I just can't bring myself to part with it. Of course my wife would probably kill me!! -Nick

You'd think on a half-million-dollar auction they could spring for the photographs that are bigger than 2"x2" and you can actually see the car in.
Would be awesome though.

The description stating that "the car was poised to win the race" seems more than a bit presumptuous, considering it never turned a wheel at the Brickyard.
And after you've spent your $550K, what would you possibly do with this thing, other than as a static display, as was the case at RRIII? The mechanicals are described as "wonderfully preserved", which means you'd likely be in for another $100K minimum for refurbishment of a 28 year old unrestored race car before you'd be able to drive it anywhere. A very odd duck. Other than the footnote factor, I don't see the attraction. Tim |

It would be fun to do the $100K resto and run it in vintage races.
Yeah, that is a lot of money but look at what the uber rich are spending on new super cars.

It would be fun to show up at the next local autocross with it.
Being so original, can I run it in the Stock class? |

550K buy in seem steep for a crappy non winning race car.

It would be interesting to see how far the bidding would go if they started at $100 with a reserve of 550k
