Best leader Ever
The "Bestest Leader Ever" is a tall order to fill. YOu could start with the likes of Alexander the Great, Augustus Caesar. There are so many good leaders and many of their thraits have been lost in time. I would say in realtivily modern times it is Abraham Lincoln. He is world class.

This is easy. Hitler, it took the death of 45,000,000 people to stop him. Horrible human being. Very effective leader. Quit thinking about the buffet so much & phrase your question better next time.

Have to agree with Mule. . .
"Best" is not necessarily the same as "most benevolent". Hitler may have been a despot, but he unified a broken and demoralized country under a banner of frenzied nationalism the likes of which the world has never seen. Incredibly effective, influential and powerful. Evil, yes, but effective. . . I find it interesting that every single one of tabs' choices is a religious leader. Just goes to show how effective religion is as a mechanism of social control. I suppose one could even argue that Hitler's nationalism with respect to the Third Reich rose almost to the level of religion/religious fervor. Just an observation from one person who is ALWAYS skeptical of the motives of supposedly "non-secular" religious interests. . .

Mule you have a very child like delight in taunting Liberals.
I don't have to phrase the question any better, it is allright the way it is. I might have defined the parameters to exclude the religious whackos from the list. Hitler the "Bestest," not hardly. When you bring a nation down both morally, physically and end it all with a bullet in your head I wouldn't call that being successfull in your endevor. Stalin's leadership eventually caused an implosion of the system he implemented.

Just 'cause you don't get it don't mean it's less correct.

Washington was no where nearly as politically adroit as Lincoln.

IMO, it's a toss-up between POTUS #2 - John Adams and POTUS #4 - James Madison.

tabs, why would you say Lincoln? His ascent to leadership split the country apart, he spent his time in power trying to militarily force those who seceded to submit to his govt's rule at a tremendous cost to both sides, despite significant military advantages he consistantly used ineffective generals to nullify those advantages, and finally the rift his election created in this nation culminated with a plot to behead the government during a time of war (and his reign was ended with a bullet in his head).
Washington gets my vote.

Mule is right about Hitler. And on that basis, in a contemporary sense, look no further than Osama Bin Laden.

Best Political Leader: Two way toss up between
Churchill for sticking to his guns and... Alkibiades for NOT sticking to his guns and instead playing every side of the table...(crazy good general too) Best Military Leader: Two way toss up between: Zhukov, for never losing or giving up, even in the most horrendous circumstances and... Grant for the same reasons. Shiloh says it all. Best Religious Leader: Moses. Overthrow a tyranny, followed by 40 years in the desert? C'mon that's rough. Best Band Leader: Beethoven. HE WAS DEAF!!!
