New Ferrari California

Opinions? I'm sure it will look nice in the flesh.

I like it. Elegant, but more distinctive than the somewhat dull 599.

I like the front with the high arch fenders and hood scoop. I have a feeling that press pictures don't do it justice.

Front looks like Ferrari. Back looks like Maserati.

"California". LOL! Perfect name for a Ferrari. They're both loud, ostentatious and expensive as hell. How appropriate!

Does it come with its own socialist government too?

In all seriousness it looks like another beauty of a car from the folks in Italia.

It looks like it was inspired by a woman's shoe.

Not a fan.

Yeah, it does look a lot like they "Italianized" the Corvette.

It should be even more popular with the gold-chain crowd on Long Island.

Not an especially attractive car. Has a bloated Z4 look to it.

If they were trying to evoke the grace of the original, they seem pretty wide of the mark:

I do see the resemblance to the Corvette, but the corvette actually looks more aggressive and graceful at the same time.

I also agree this car is NOWHERE NEAR as pretty as the original Kalifornia.

Ferrari dropped the ball this time.

No, but to a Scaglietti, yes.

Front engine V8 hard top convertable... I love the look and idea of the car; I just wish I was able to get one.

edit again... nevermind it looks like it may be a different car.

It doesn't look like a vette at all. The California looks like it was influenced by the 250GT California.

Ugh. From that last rear 3/4 shot, it has a Hyundai Tiburon look to it.

I liked the original pics from the OP, as Maserati-ish as they may be. (My boss just picked up one of Maser's new coupes. The thing is a blast to drive, and it gets tons of looks, even here in jaded LA.)

IMHO I agree that it looks bloated and rather Asian in styling... if I were going to drop that kind of coin on a car I think I could find something better looking.

They tried marketing it as the Ferrari Idaho but the focus group wasn't going for it

YMMV
