I'd buy a new liver. Nothing is as important as your (or your loved ones) health.

Well, not all chicks.

Well, the type of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.

I think that's my favorite quote from that movie.

+1

Run like hell, cause there ain't no way it's mine.

Porsche-O-Phile 05-16-2008 05:12 AM

Same thing I'd do with $1,000 - just 499 more times. :)

As a gift, I would invest half of it in smart, conservative investments and I would spend the rest chasing after the one big score that would allow me to never truly work a day in my life.

Pay stuff off, buy a 993 C4s, invest the rest.

lendaddy 05-16-2008 06:24 AM

Well, I would put half of it in low-risk mutual funds and take the other half over to my friend Absadulah who works in securities...

>I thought that the average professional on this board had more wealth than that in their home equity.

From hearing some of you talk, you'd think they had that behind you couch cushions...

Ahh the internet - where everybody is a gun toting, good looking 30 year old single guy with a 12 inch schlong and more money than bill gates.

Have I shown you a picture of my mansion?

coworker has turned $40k into $113k since January buying/selling dry bulk shippers. might have to pay more attention the next time he starts going on about the baltic dry index and such.

Buying and selling what?

Tell him I've already got one.

I turned 50 in april, retired at 46. Home equity is only 20% of my net worth.
Income property. I was at the right place at the right time. Having some "balls' did not hurt. Living way below my means and not keeping up with the "Jone's" helped too.

berettafan 05-16-2008 10:55 AM

excel and eagle i think are two of several that he has been playing with. not absolutely positive though.

the industry is really interesting as he explains it. the concepts are similar to rental real estate and while there is some interesting potential for fraud by insiders (one fellow apparently is in jail for screwing with rent prices and shorting contracts) he has managed to stay ahead of things.

Art, as one who darned near didn't make it out of the hospital, I know what you mean. Money and the toys it buys gets moved down the list. Wayyy down the list. My best to you...

I was going to respond to your question but I realized I read it wrong. I thought you said " what would you do with half a MILF ":D Sorry about that SmileWavy

JohnJL 05-20-2008 01:44 AM

Which half of that MILF?

deathpunk dan 05-20-2008 06:46 AM

Half mil...
We could sell our little cape and buy another little cape 1 mile away..only that one has a deep water dock, viking kitchen, open floor plan. We'd even have a little bit of money left over.

Which I would then use to hire a certain semi-retired ohio punk band to come play an epic backyard BBQ.

And maybe a nice little used 13' boston whaler.
