The phase outs don't start until a single person makes over 75K, so you should be getting a check. Unless of course you didn't file taxes, or you are married to a high earner.

Thought about putting it into a savings accounts until I can afford to get the machine work done on my 3.2L. Then I realized that I would be making 2% and inflation is somewhere around 3% (per the gov't if you believe that) so if I save it I am losing money. I do have to buy a graduation gift for my cousin who just finished up Med School.

If any of you guys not getting the check want to swap pay-checks with me I'll gladly trade Mine should be $1500 before taxes for the month.

I'm actually against the rebate checks. Economics would tell us that an expected government injection of cash will do nothing to Long Term GDP, all it will do is increase the price level (more inflation). Nothing quite like a bacteria infested bandaid on a bleeding economy.

I was just thinking those of you that aren't getting a stimulus check should go out and invest in the companies that us poor folk are pumping up for the 1/4. Get long the stock, reap the rewards of a good quarter and bail out in September. Might want to go and watch how many fools are carrying flat screen tv's out of Walmart, Costco, and Best Buy. You can turn your investment into a lot more than that paltry $600. Maybe you should just buy calls that way you can take out the majority of downside risk.

Walmart is down over 1% today, Costco is down almost 3%, and best buy is down .75%. This is a buying opportunity! ! ! !

Then you can post about how pissed you are that you have to pay capital gains taxes on your $5000 income from a short term investment

Hey, it is not all peaches and cream... the thing doesn't have a built in light meter so I had to buy one, then you have to read the meter and MANUALLY set the aperture and shutter speed... and I have to MANUALLY cock the shutter AND advance the film by hand.

I could get a blister!

Beautiful.

I have a Hassy, same idea, mine is pretty "used" looking though.

Here's some camera trivia - ever heard of a Plaubel-Makina? Really interesting MF camera.

Wal-Mart sales stimulated in May
No. 1 retailer credits government payments for 3.9% same-store gain as customers buy food and electronics.
By Aaron Smith, CNNMoney.com staff writer
Last Updated: June 5, 2008: 8:06 AM EDT

Stimulus checks helped boost Wal-Mart sales in May, especially for electronics.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Wal-Mart Stores, the leading U.S. retailer, reported a jump in May sales Thursday that beat analyst expectations, crediting the U.S. government's stimulus payments for the increase.

Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500) reported a gain of 3.9% at sales in stores open a year or more, excluding the impact of fuel sales. That was more than double the 1.6% same-store gain expected by Thomson Reuters analysts, and it's more than triple last year's gain of 1.1% for the month.

Wal-Mart Chief Executive Eduardo Castro-Wright said, in a press release, "we're seeing some benefits from the stimulus checks." He said the stimulus, combined with other factors including "price leadership," contributed to the increase in sales.

"Customers continue to rely on Wal-Mart to stretch their dollars," said Castro-Wright. He said that grocery sales were strong, as well as sales for flatscreen TVs, computers and digital electronics.

Consumers also flocked to Costco Wholesale (COST, Fortune 500), a leading warehouse club that reported a 5% jump in same-store sales excluding gasoline. With fuel, which soared in price during the month, same-store sales rose 9% trumping the 6.9% rise projected by Thomson Reuters data.

But Limited Brands, Inc., (LTD, Fortune 500) which operates Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works and other stores, suffered a 6% same-store sales decline.

Well, it's comforting to know that these check recipients have done their share to stimulate the Chinese economy.
