What you fellow Californians going to do about handsfree cell phones while driving?

I can't stand earpieces, so I'm looking at options. Saw this advertised in an airline mag on the plane.

http://www.myblueant.com/supertooth-light-bluetooth-handsfree.htm

They've got a newer enhanced version available any day as well. I wonder how these things perform?

I refuse to be assimilated as well. A few months ago, I saw a bluetooth device that clips onto your visor and gives you hands free. Or, I will just use the built in speaker phone or let it go to voicemail. We can still text while driving though!!!

That's what the product is, a clip on deal. It's only about $66 at Amazon.

I think that was the device I was looking at. I didn't go to the link, as I am going in circles for the second day in ATT's phone system.

I don't use the phone will riding.

Bluetooth earpieces are the new chic, and possibly the most ridiculous "fashion statement" I've seen. But, boys will be boys...

Have one for "just in case" but usually if the phone rings while driving I just don't answer it.

Frankly, I'm trying to get rid of the g-damn thing entirely.

I always want to go up and flick it out of their ear mid-conversation and scream, "my god...that mind-eating beetle was about to kill you!!!"

Well, as a guy who depends on some communication with customers to earn his living, not answering the phone doesn't work very well.

When I'm in the 911 screwing around, I can't hear much other than the cacophony at the rear, so I'm not worried about that.

I work in wireless (actually I manage the engineering department) and have tried numerous headsets. I absolutely love the "Jawbone." Check out the demo:

http://www.jawbone.com/demo.aspx

yes, it is that good!

(the Motorola bluetooth unit that clips to the visor looks pretty good but have not tried it)

I use a Jawbone while in the car, but it comes out of my ear when I get out of the car.

I think "BlueTool" is the term for folks who wear the earpiece as a gadget fashion statement for non-utility purposes.

I have 2 clip on type units and both work, to varying degrees. The issue is how mch noise you have in the car. In the BMW they work pretty well. In my Jeep, not so well.

The more expensive units have ambient noise reduction and are supposed to work very well.

I use a bluetooth for my cell and an earpiece for my Blackberry for just about all calls because I hate holding a phone to my ear. I very rarely talk while driving and never even think of it unless handsfree.

Man, are you Kalifornians behind the times -- we've had a hands-free law on the books in NJ for years now. Sadly, most folks ignore the law and continue to hold their phones to their ears and weave in and out of traffic.

I have a blue-tooth which I only use when I'm actually on the freakin' cell phone in my car. I refuse to turn a piece of technology into a fashion statement or a bit of technology that I use to "prove" to everyone that I'm better than they are. Sometimes I also use my cell phone's speaker phone function.

Go get wit da program, ya left coasters!!
