I have to say, I've gotten more information about Porsches, Law, Diseases, Relationships, Airplanes, Racing, Food, Pets, Stocks, Taxes, Religion, Politics, History, Music, Hobbies, Motorcycles, Babes, Boats and Buttsex (notice the alliteration), than I could have found anywhere in one place on Al Gore's godforsaken Web.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it! (Oh, I left out Drugs..)

And if ever racing my 911 in Sweden, always wear "Red Clogs". (Thanks Markus!)

I love this place.

When first stepping aboard, my sensitive real life, scale of interpersonal relationship behavior was sometimes chocked. Since then I have gradually adapted, adjusted and overcome. Nowadays I sometimes find OT almost boringly nice and polite! :-)

Posts on neutral objects, persons or groups outside of our personal knowledge being pissed on does not offend me much anymore. But, I find it very problematic with personal insults between posters. IMO, if you need to personally insult another poster for posting his opinion on a non personal subject - you are no better than the Koran kissing rabid flag burning muslis.

not many things in life more irritating than a person who thinks the rest of the world gives a ***** that they have been offended.
I also am irritated, royaly pi$$ed and generally fit to pop over all things I could care less about :)

I also can no longer support the business that permits it. A shame too, as I am a dedicated Porsche fanatic, long time customer and truly feel Wayne is above this nonsense.

I'm not sure how to delete my account, but Mods feel free.

I didn't know Rev. Wright was a frequent poster here.

[COLOR="SeaGreen"]If I wanted to feel loved, cared for, I would go to Rev. Wright's Pub .[If I wanted to feel Kumbya like ,
I would locate a Obama rally..

There are a few people that occassionally push the limits over the top, but the moderators do a good job of reigning them in, without imposing their own beliefs and filters on the posters.

I basically agree with this Wayne. You guys are running a very tolerant board, and that tolerance is part of what makes it interesting.

That said, there are a number of posters here who clearly derive their pleasure from weighing into good discussions and dragging these down with personal attacks, racism, sexism etc - that has nothing to do with the discussion. Their object is purely to drag the discussion down to their level and provoke a brawl.

It's like going into your favorite bar and always finding the same hooligans in the corner, interrupting your conversation, hitting on your women, peeing in your beer and generally doing their level best to be obnoxious and provoke a brawl. You can say, "well it's a broad church, and if you go to a bar you have to expect hooligans. It's part of the experience." That your call. It's your board.

Of course if they are allowed to stay, these guys usually succeed in provoking their brawl. You can see this in countless threads that simply implode with invective.

Now you can just say "that's part of the entertainment we offer you on PPOT". But you could also say, "let's throw the bums out and make this a more enjoyable bar."

Ultimately it comes down to an aesthetic choice.

To be clear: I am not talking about political correctness here. I hate political correctness. I'm talking purely of the few hate-mongers and total dildos on this board whose sole purpose is to undermine good discussion.

There should be a sign on the door of PPOT - warning -- Nomex suit recommended...

Having been in OT since the beginning, I have seen a definate trend -- every four years the political topics get more and more heated. Now, is it a coincidence that this ramping up of political threads conicides with the presidential election year? I think not.

Add to that the current uncertainty of our economic situation, and you've got a crucible full of highly flammable liquids sitting over a very, very hot flame. The inevitable will happen. **POOF** IF we let it.

As the rules state - discussion of controversial topics are ok - but when it degrades to mud-slinging, name calling, then the thread crosses over the line. (Side note: leave the mud-slinging and name calling to the pros -- IE those whose future will be determined in November... )

So - continue to discuss here what you wish. And if you want to yell and scream and call someone a poopy-head, then do so -- but keep it to yourself. (Or open up a MS Word document and write away to your hearts content. AND LEAVE IT THERE.)

And as Nostatic said - if you see something objectionable, please hit the "Report this to a moderator" button. Both Todd and I don't get paid enough for this gig to read every single line of every single thread here.

My $0.42,
-Z-man.

Perhaps the following features should be explained prior to entering OT

Ignore Poster
Report this post to moderator
Have half a ****** brain and don't click on posts involving "Bush", "Obama", "Hillary", "McCain", or any combination thereof if you don't like arguing

Last time I checked, OT requires a mouse click to enter. I don't recall the slightest bit of conflict on the tech boards, unless MFI vs carbs counts. So our attention whore friend may feel that this is a nasty, immature, contentious place, but I would argue that he's the moron for coming here in the first place. Personally, I think this is the most interesting place on the web. The breadth of knowledge on here is incredible. I can post a thread regarding guns, minivans, or catholic school, and someone on here can provide me with an informed opinion. Furthermore, the level of moderation allows for discourse, but typically steps in at the appropriate time. Well done Wayne!

This place is tame by internets standards.

Kind of the "anti-New York" i.e., if you can't make it here, you can't make it anywhere.

Some people just need to readjust their sense of perspective. Everything here is just electronic words written by a bunch of random strangers. It's hard to imagine anything in a normal person's life that could (should) matter less.
