I would like to go but probably won't... I'm 51 and even though I play electric bass in a praise band I would probably feel like the "creepy old guy".

There are a few Christians here on PPOT but we are outnumbered by the God haters making it not a very friendly environment for Christian posts.

BTW one of the mods is a Christian.

You can sure say that again. Sorry to see it but its true. The recent "is there a God" thread was not a pretty sight...

Gotcha. I'm a active Catholic, but the Christian music never did it for me.

It's disturbing to see the anti-Christian sentiment here on some threads. Some of my best friends have been atheist/agnostic/whatever you want to call it, never bothered me. Too bad everybody can't have the same attitude. This is American, believe whatever you want.

You guys don't think that the more extreme elements of American Christianity have earned some well deserved grief? I think they have.

Do you feel that the Christians that post here part of "the more extreme elements of American Christianity"?

The extreme element of any group will always bring a negative light. I sure we could find some Porsche owners who do not exhibit exemplary behavior.

I bet if a bunch of agnostics/atheists got together and tried to throw a concert, there'd be someone who'd throw a hissy fit about it.

Double-standards are alive and well.

They weren't organizing deliberately and expressly under the banner of atheism/agnosticism.

I don't really care myself (actually I find some of the Christian rock stuff kind of interesting) but I just find it slightly inappropriate that in the context of these festivals and what-not, prefixing the word "concert" with the word "Christian" is done deliberately as a mechanism of exclusion. It's a not-so-subtle way of saying "if you're not one of us, don't bother showing up".

All I'm saying is it'd be interesting to see the reactions from people if someone organized a "atheist rock festival". Kinda' like it'd be interesting to see the reactions from people organizing a "straight pride parade".

That's all. Not looking to start a war, just some food for thought. . .

Can't say I'm a big fan of Christian music (like country music, it all sounds the same to me), but I love this song by this Christian band!

Lighten up Frances!

Actually these show are developed to attract people who are interested in Christianity that will not set foot in church but will go to an outdoor music festival.

well kinda the music is pretty good. and is a positive for all the new music that's out talkin about ppl killing ppl and stuff. you would have to go to get it though. because words and idea's of other people don't scratch the surface of what it's actually about.

That's a pretty silly comment. If you WEREN'T a Christian, and decided to go to a "concert", only to find that it was actually a christian concert, you'd probably be pissed. Hell, I don't really care for christian music, I'd be pissed. It's a genre of music, just like rap, country, and jazz. If you want to be technical, MOST music is agnostic/atheist/whatever. Though I have to say, I'd love to see that straight pride parade.
