Reborn Capri

I picked this article up from a post over at the BlueOvalNews forum.

Reborn Capri
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/220956/reborn_capri.html

Quote:
As Ford has yet to officially confirm its new Capri plans, we won’t see the car before the next decade. However, it has been reported that the blue oval is planning to reveal a concept version of the coupé at a major motor show in 2009.

I see and in order:

RX-8 (front wheel arch)
Volvo (rear lights/hatch)
BMW Z4 (side slab cut)
Ford look (in general + last gen Cougar)
Ford Mustang (Shelby grill super-sized)

Those rims are growing on me, strange.

Hey now!!

Anyway, this rumor has been flying for a while and this is not their first swing at this. I think a lot of makers (Hyundai, Toyota, Subaru, etc..) have seen that there is an unserved niche for affordable rear drive coupes and they are rushing to fill it.

Capri name is looked upon much more fondly in Europe, which is probably where this car is headed. What, like Ford sells their good stuff here? Europe has had several completely new Focus(s) (Foci?), while the American model is a 2001 with side vents and voice activated radio. Oh yeah, and the Europe Focus is actually a pretty great car. The Mondeo is the best car Ford builds, and it isn't even available here. But at least we have the Fusion! I love how an American company has good cars, but continues to serve us crap. Have fun with those layoffs guys!

It's a "likeable" car right off the bat.

I see no mention of Gerry McGovern or Freeman Thomas, not sure this design is quite up to their level anyway.

This car should be in the show room today, no excuses.

I'm finally selling my Ford stock shares, it's below $7.00 a share, the buy-out offer is $8.50............................losers can't make the cars they should be making, screw them. I have no faith in Ford anymore, why did I ever?

Here's a pic that I found some time ago. I think it might be a fan interpretation, but it's cool nonetheless.
