Watching F1 and other road course racing is fascinating if you: a) understand the subtleties of the pit strategies, and b) understand the sport from a driving standpoint.. If you don't, it is boring as watching paint dry.

I like that circuit, its genuinely difficult and almost every race held there is memorable. It just needs a bit of re-surfacing and a lick of paint.

As for today's race, well done Robert! A well deserved win. Wooden spoon goes to Hammy.

I was lol'ing when Kimi was pointing the light out to Hammy, post-incident. And I thought British humor was dry...

Massa ran the red and was black flagged from the race, race over for him. Massa also did not run into anyone else stopped waiting for the red to turn green.

I love the Ferrari hate. Everyone yelled for Kimi to be penalized last week when he lost control of his car in the braking zone taking out a backmarker and this week when Hammy hits its just chalked up to a rookie mistake and everyone wants to move on.

A 10 point grid penalty would be getting off light for Hammy. Massa was told to park his car.

Just to add, not everyone gets to drive multi-million dollar cars on a race track, while I would suspect most in this thread have had their respective cars on a track in some capacity, be it a DE or actual race (I cannot afford to actually race and have enough sense not to go down that slippery slope) we all agree watching the flagship of road racing on TV is exciting, but not as exciting as driving your own 20K car on a road course. But that is not the point, M21, what your saying can be applied to ANY sport be it hockey, baseball, or (insert your favorite sport here).

Well, you have to give Hammy credit for being smart enough to change direction at the last minute and take out Kimi instead of Kubica, probably figuring Kimi to be the greater threat as the season wears on..........................

Nah, they were getting huge wheelspin out of turn 10. Massa was able to make the pass because the other two guys went way wide on their turn in and got into the marbles. Massa went in really tight, inside of the slippery stuff. According to some drivers, the best line through that corner was to put the inside wheels on the grass....

BTW - Fox's coverage of the race SUCKED. No pre-race show and cut off before the drivers were done being interviewed, so they could get to their next rerun of Life according to Jim.

Yes, its better with Varsha and Hobbs, it just seemed like Fox could not be bothered to even give some time to the broadcast, like a rerun of a sitcom was more important on a Sunday afternoon.

I thought that was very classy of Kimi. I'm pretty sure Kimi was somewhat pissed but he just tapped Hammy on the arm an pointed at the stop light. Like you say, very funny.

Hamilton got the same result as a black flag due to damage. Knocking him down 10 on the next race is the equivalent penalties for two races for his stupidity.

Hamilton made a bonehead move no doubt but if he had to take someone out.....

Kimi, on the other hand, took out the farm team. Maybe they're getting too fast for Ferrari?

No penalties for either IMO. And the penalty for Massa was way too harsh- a ten second stop and go would have been appropriate. Let the racers win by racing, the drivers with the fewest mistakes will come out on top anyway.

Kimi clearly lost control of his car in Monaco when he smashed into the back of Sutil. Hamilton on the other hand was just not paying attention. He and Nico completely deserve the penalty. I didn't get the race, but the more this season goes on my hatred of alonso has turned into astonishment. I do feel that he is a stuck up selfish man, but my goodnes can he develop a car over the course of the season. The Renault blew in Australia, and now he is getting close to being on podium.

Hamilton gave himself a black flag and took out another car due to inattention not at the limit in a braking zone. Besides, Kimi basically took himself out of the points as well in Monaco so in essence, according to your logic, he got a penalty as well. Massa did not crash so he was given his penalty immediately, I am willing to bet that if Massa had wrecked before they told him to park he would have been penalized in the next race as well.

All things being equal then Hambone deserved another penalty in the next race and he got it.

Much as I would like to have seen Hamilton escape this incident penalty free I DO think the penalty is deserved.
An accident in the pit lane is a safety concern, as would be driving through the red light at the end of the pit lane. I am sure that if Kimi hadn't been there Hammy would have gone straight through it.
You only need to look back to Australia at the start of the season. Barichello got a DQ for driving through the pit lane red and Nakajima got docked 10 places on the next grid for running into the back of Kubica while running under the safety car. How is what Hamilton did really any different?
