out of tragedy comes some justice

I can't fathom this behavior, but at least this time, the guy won't be costing the tax payers money.

Police Kill Man Who Stomped Baby to Death

TURLOCK, Calif. — Police killed a 27-year-old man as he kicked, punched and stomped a toddler to death despite other people's attempts to stop him on a dark, country road, authorities said.

Investigators on Sunday were trying to establish the relationship between the suspect and the child they say he killed Saturday night. The Stanislaus County coroner said the boy appeared to be between 1 and 2 years old based on his size, according to county sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh.

"It's been a long night of wondering, 'Why?' — not only for the officers and the passers-by who stopped and tried to help out, but for anyone. Why would somebody do this?" Singh said.

Singh said the coroner does not plan to confirm the identities of the suspect and victim until Monday. Because his injuries were so severe, the child will have to be identified through a blood or DNA test, he said.

The suspect had a child's car seat in the back of his four-door pickup truck. The truck caught the attention of an elderly couple at 10:13 p.m. Saturday because it was stopped in the two-lane road facing the wrong direction, Singh said.

As they got closer, the couple saw the man brutally beating the toddler behind his truck and throwing the child on the ground, according to Singh. Two or three other cars stopped, an unusual number to be passing through the remote area surrounded by a dairy, a cow pasture, a cornfield and a farmhouse, he said.

"What we got from witnesses is he was punching, slapping, kicking, stomping, shaking," Singh said. "They tried to intervene and get involved, but their efforts really didn't have an effect. The suspect was engaged in what he was doing. He just pushed them off and went back to it."

A sheriff's helicopter responding to emergency calls from the area landed in a cow pasture at 10:19 p.m. carrying a Modesto police officer who shot the man to death after he refused an order to stop beating the child, Singh said.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the toddler, who was not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No children within the dead boy's age range have been reported kidnapped or missing in Stanislaus County, Singh said.

The incident happened on Bradbury Road about 10 miles west of Turlock, a city located about halfway between Sacramento and Fresno.
I just can't even imagine what you'd be thinking to do this.

That police officer should be honored with the highest price available. My stomach turns inside out from reading that story. Man is a beast. The worst, most malicious ANIMAL species on the planet.

God lost control over the Evolution with Homo sapience.

It just sickens me to know that people like this live and breathe the same air as the rest of us.

But I'm sure there'll be those deploring the use of 'excessive force'.

As my buddy Tex says, "there's people out there that need to be killed".

He has lived in this country and been exposed to the media longer than 5 minutes.

You really doubt it? Can we send some food and water to your cave?

Saw the interview with the cop, this was out in the boonies(the boonies in Turlock, man that is redundant)

I am afraid if I pulled up on a scene like that, the guy would be approaching ambient temperature before the law arrived

I agree, how could anyone "try to get involved" when this was going on, instead he should have been too busy tying not to die at the hand of the witnesses that were beating him.

I have a feeling that if the guy was not killed, he would say that he lost his mind after he couldn't stop the child from crying. His lawyers will then defend him by reason of temporary insanity and plead not guilty and waste millions of taxpayers' money on the case.

The officer has my respect.

It was the witnesses who tried to "get involved" according to the report. I can easily see how people could not stop him; he could have been an extremely strong individual, possibly (probably) insane and/or under the influence of PCP or meth. The bystanders could have been middle-aged or elderly people w/o much physical strength, if there was not at least one tough guy present, the beating goes on. A crazy, enraged dude who is yoked can do whatever the hell he wants w/ 20 people watching and screaming, I've seen it happen.

Everyone behind their keyboard thinks that they would have just gone Chuck Norris on the guy w/o knowing what he looked like. I'm certain that if anyone had a gun they would have shot him, but it sounds like it would have been too late anyways. This is a sickening story, but I'm about 99% certain that meth or severe mental illness is behind it.

And as for the "excessive force" comment, bull*****. I have never met anyone in my life who would fault the cop for shooting this guy, and I've met some really smelly hippies who aren't really sure what they're protesting against. Some of you guys need to turn off the RW wack-off AM radio, (you know, "the media"), and get out more.

That defense would be a guaranteed, one-way ticket to death row in San Quentin. You really don't know the law, do you?

PPOT, of course.

And I'm scratching my head as to what RW radio has to do with it?
Had I been there I would have dropped the moron if at all possible. The first couple to see it where elderly, and I don't fault them at all for not being able to physically intervene, same as the others. At least they got LE involved.

If the cop hadn't done the right thing, this guy wouldn't have made it through a week of lockup before his arraignment. Baby killers are lower than baby f*****s on the prison scale.

Yes, I realize that he would be in his own cell, but someone, somewhere would have left a door open when the staff mysteriously wasn't around...

Exactly. I have a good friend who spent his formative years, (about 20 of them), in San Quentin. He is one of the more exceptional turn-around stories in history, successful actor, mentor to young gang members and criminals, great guy, etc... There is only one thing on earth that could or would send him back to SQ after 40 years of freedom, and that is if I pointed out someone who was abusing a child to him. His response would not be civilized. And he is a guy who would call 911 on any other crime.

That guy's life would not be worth a nickel, and torturing and murdering a baby in front of a crowd of witnesses does not leave many options for a defense lawyer.

Good point, I assume an onlooker is an able bodied strapping man that can take this guy out, I also assume a POS like this child beater is a 90 lb wimp that could not beat up anything much bigger.

In your minds eye you get a picture and do not realize this could have been a roid rager and a group of old ladies trying to calm him down.

I stand corrected, its just sad a little child lost its life so unnecessarily, like the thread title says, the only good here is he will never get a chance to do it again.

I read this last night and thought of posting it here, but I hate to read despicable crap and thought I would spare ppot the pain.

It just sickens and enrages me. Almost ashamed to belong to the same human race, American, Californian. I feel guilty to want to be ostrich-like, bury my head in the sand and make it go away.

The child is probably the son of the ex-wife/girlfriend and is slaughtered to exact some kind of whacked out revenge. But it wouldn't surprise me to find out it was his own baby.

How does anyone stand by and wait for a police helicopter to arrive? Maybe you had to be there, but especially if there was more than one person (and the report said that 3 or more cars stopped) how can you not get involved while a child is being beaten to DEATH?

And as far as the poliveman who provided the justice in this case; you read all the time how the policeman, or teacher, or security gaurd, or homeowner or anyone who uses ANY kind of force to subdue or kill a POS and they're the one who is being questioned on if that use of force was really necessary.
